  1. The Grandmaster at my school has mastered pressure points and knows DIM MAK. He is very careful about using them, but he has used them in a demonstration against several assistant instructors who he had go all out on him. He knew exactly where to hit and what the reaction would be. He is an amazing fighter. I have seen dim mak applications (experienced some of the lesser ones) and I can attest to the fact that they work. I would however caution you to the fact that they can and will hurt someone badly if not used properly. Do not use them without proper supervision and I do agree with those posted here, learn how to fight well, then work on pressure points as an afterthought.
  2. there are other forms of Zhan Zhuang training that can help you focus on certain areas. Try holding your hands out to your side but keep them relaxed. Hold this posture as you would embrace the tree. You will really start to feel it in your arms. Also try holding your arms strait out with your palms opposing one another like you are trying to push down two pillars. Ater time you will feel this in your arms as well. Remember to RELAX. RELAX, RELAX, RELAX. Hope this helps.
  3. Welcome to KF
  4. I might try Tui Shou w/ my eyes closed, but never in a fight. I'm not that good.
  5. what ever happened to this situation?
  6. Ignore it. he'll be over you in a few weeks.
  7. my grandmaster makes us do one technique all class, (sometimes we do well over 100 reps). He encourages us to isolate and repeat it 100, 1,000 or even 10,000 times. I like repetition, but it can be challenging sometimes.
  8. I tried it and ended up in the wrong area of the room. My senses aren't quite attuned for that yet. I am still working on it. good luck and be careful.
  9. In TCC, I have found that having long legs can be to my disadvantage, (especially when doing stretches in warmups) My friend who practices TKD says having long legs means he can kick from a farther distance, so for him it is an advantage, for me a disadvantage.
  10. my church used to teach TKD. ($15 a month) and there were many, many students (upwards of 50) that took here. Several of them made it to black belt, some of them making it as high as 3rd degree BB. I am studying to be a pastor and I would love to teach MA at my church one day.
  11. welcome nicole
  12. Do you think many females see it as a sport/marial art that is good for fitness and tone rather than combat?

    Harassment

I havn't told the guys at school b/c I didn't want to end up "proving myself" to them. Some of them know and give me a hard time, but I don't worry about it. It doesn't bother me.
  14. Sammo Hung, Arseneo Hall, and My Favorite KELLY HU (Aka. Pepe Chen) from Martial Law. Kelly HU ROCKS
  15. I have a total gym, I don't know anyone that has a bowflex.
  16. the braces are off now. Hooray
  17. welcome Altek I run on my treadmill and I love it. It is a great way to get into shape. Anything you do is better than nothing, so go after it and have fun.
  18. Try doing some yoga/meditation. It will help you in your breathing. Any good yoga instructor should be able to help you out with this. also remember to breathe deep into the belly and most important: RELAX. P.S. I increased my lung capacity in high school by standing on the bottom of my grandmother's pool. ( I am a tuba player, so I need lots of wind) DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. good luck and STAY SAFE.
  19. I agree with the rest of my collegues. I don't know about 4 pack abs, but with a proper diet, excersize/ and rest, you should start to see results in 6-8 weeks. Good luck.
  20. welcome to KF
