Hey yall I was in class tonight and a "reiki" master was supposed to be in the class with us. Well, the only thing he ended up doing was getting the Grandmaster really ticked off at us because he was disrespectful. I was wondering what is "reiki" (not sure of spelling) and how is one a "master" of it? Thanks for the helpful comments

I try to hold embrace the tree for a solid hour. If I am not feeling as well, I will hold embrace the tree for at least 30 minutes and then change it up with my arms outstreched palms down for 15 min and my hands palm up at the dantien for 15 min. I do know other postures, but these are the ones I feel I get the most benefit from

Tai Chi and Sparring
dtstiachi replied to SatyagrahaKF's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
You lose the trapping capabilities of the techniques, but they can be used effectively while sparring. A follow up question is this, what type of sparring is it? It sounds more like traditional boxing. -

DimMok
dtstiachi replied to BlackWolf's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Are you refering to Dim Mak? My grandmaster has hit dim mak points on me before. Man, weird things start happening when pressure points are struck. -
Fajing can mean a push or a punch, which would you like to know about? Either one describes the whole body being used to do a quick "shake/strike" to put all of ones energy into the attacking limb.

Just curious What if he doesn't apologize and wants to start something with you? escort him out of the dojo or knock him out? -
Whoa! This guy it nuts! Do you think he makes his students sign a waiver for injuries received while and during training. I wouldn't probably last the class

I signed a 36 month contract with the martial arts school that I am attending in Dallas. I am here currently studying for my Master's degree. I will graduate next May and move on to a Doctoral program that is not in Dallas. My contract is up next August, but I will finish formal instruction at the school I am at in May of '07.

Hey Ya'll Does anyone here practice Wu Style Tai Chi? This style focuses more than others on different push hands techniques. Our Grandmaster showed us one of the solo forms for 2 handed Tui Shou (push hands). I was wondering if there are any Wu stylist out there who would like to comment on the mechanics of Wu style pushands. Thanks.

Hey Gang, I have been studying Yang Style Tai Chi for 18 months now and next May my contract will be up on the school i am currently at. I am hoping to continue my study of Tai Chi and am considering also adding Baguazang to the list of arts I would know. What is your opinion of Bagua? What do you like or not like? Please make your comments helpful. This is not intended to be a debate about this art vs that art. Thank you for your time and help.

Tai Chi
dtstiachi replied to Sho-ju's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
I have been studying Yang Style Tai Chi for 2 years now. I hope to start Chen Style this summer. I love it. My grandmaster teaches Tai Chi as a martial art, not just an art with amazing health benefits. -
Hey everyone, After almost a year of waiting (brought on by the grandmaster) I finally tested monday night and earned my yellow sash. The test was gruelling and the grandmaster gave me a pretty challenging oral exam as well as a performance exam. I can't wait to start sword training in January. Overall he was very gracious and fair, but I realized that I have a long way to go before I will test again. Oh well. I'm going to celebrate this short step for a few days then back to training. Later.

thanks fallen_milkman, my typing is abomidable. yes I meant Kwan Dao. Do you study an internal chinese art? I also like the cross between sword and staff. I wonder if one knows a bo kata if they could effectively yield a Kwan Dao. I've heard they are extremely heavy.

Hello everyone, Do any of you use the Kwan Do in any of your Kung Fu forms? Could you tell me any of your experiences (not history, I can google that) with this weapon? If you have, what do you think about it? Thanks for the imput.
