Relax. Feel the chi flow throgh your body. Don't try to force the chi. It will flow over time. If you are hung up on a particular area, let me know what it is and I will try to help.

I do it for Chi development. You really start seeing positve results when you start holding a posture for longer than 20 min. By the time you reach an hour, you feel like you are going to spontaneously combust because of all of the heat that you have built up inside of you. It is great excersize as well by the way. Your muscles are being held in a static tension for a long period of time and they aren't used to being used that way. I mainly do it for chi development, but there are excersize benefits that come from it as well.

a lot of questions
dtstiachi replied to viskous's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
welcome viskous, Zhan Zhuang is standing meditation. It is also known as Standing on Stake meathods and Posting. It is one of the best ways to develop your chi flow. I have been doing it for almost a year know and the results I have received have been tremendous. Google Zhan Zhuang and you will fijnd a ton of information on the how and where and why of what it is. As far as Iron Palm goes, My knowledge is limited on that subject sorry. -
Tai Chi or Qi Gong?
dtstiachi replied to Kinson's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
I think of Chi Kung not as a martail art, but as excercizes to help build up my chi lfow and internal energy, (some people use it as a martail art, but I use the excersizes for their chi increasing ability). Tai Chi is a martial art form that also focuses on MAJOR breathing and the slow dance like form that has great martial capabilities. I would (and do) train in both. Chi Kung for internal power and Tai Chi for health/ self defense/ and excersize. -
A perfect martial art?

good point sam -
Welcome Akemoshi and Clarence, In regards to your question about using chi in your techniques. It will be there. Don't try to think about forcing it to your hands or feet. Trying to force CHI will actually cut it off. relax and let the chi flow through your hands, feet, and body as you do the techniqes. As to your question on how to increase your control of chi and your chi in your body. I would suggest Zhan Zhuang training. Google this and you will get a wealth of information. It is also called standing meditation. This is a great Chi Kung technique that will help you increase the chi flow in your body and will help you cultivate the chi quicker.

Transitioning between Degrees of Black Belt
dtstiachi replied to scottnshelly's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
The Grandmaster at my school told us that it took him 4-5 years to move to the next degree of black belt. He is a 9th degree and it took him a long time to move to the hgher levels (4 and higher). -
