Sam replied to jedimc's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
Yeah exactly - would be good not to - so u can see real MA, but then again , most people would look at it and be like "What the .....?! - where are all the flips, etc." -
Lol, still she might just be like that - dont take it personally, i know plenty of people that make little comments like that...
-
But that's also about surprise - if they dont know you do MA, you have the advantage of surprise.

Like shooting beams from their eyes Seriously, that sort of attitude can be slowly turned ronud to a real love of the martial arts.

r u better at patterns or sparring?
Sam replied to Jane_Doe's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I wouldnt say good patterns practitioners are good at sparring as a rule, just that good students are good at both...... if u see what i mean. -
Long Distance Running
Sam replied to Menjo's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
I was just debating the point - it was largely irrelevant to ur problems sorry What you can do is multiple short sprints that cna help improve endurance.... just have a look at "sprint training" on google - its a bit of a fad at the moment... but its worth a look. -
You can test for BB at any age with us, however ur grading time between 1st and 2nd dan [normally 2 years] is doubled... so unless u get ur BB REALLY young, u generally dont make it to 2nd dan that early on.
-
She has multiple belts remember - might that count for something?
-
Lol - im probably onthis forum a bit more than most other than Menjo at least.... but i know what u mean about training all the time, Always thinking about MAs, i mean in honesty i thnik most of us would agree we're slightly obsessed with MA, so i guess its on our minds alot.... practicing in our heads

Ok - can somone clarify the TECHNICAL difference between bio-electricity and electricity itself? As a physicist I'm at a loss to understand the difference between these two thigns, and why I keep reading about bio-electricity and how it relates to Chi / Ki. Anything you can do to explain this is greatly appreciated.

Fair enough i pay £25 a month for my TKD.... and do loads of hours.... Go round and visit a couple of other places taht do it , if they're available... otherwise i guess its just about whether you cna justify the spend or not. -
Tae Kwon Do Traditional: Similar to many striking arts, uses kicks to a greater extent, large separation between practice of Poomse [patterns] and sparring. Some schools train more for self-defense and so will engage in full-contact trainign, with some grappling brought in - but rarely to any advanced degree. Majority of schools neglect grappling and ground work.
-
Ah right..... try and draw him into a pattern..... if you're not that much of an advanced sparer compared to him, he may not recognize its on purpose..... then use the pattern to an advantage. Or - practice sparring in a mirror and / or video tape it, and look for thigns that might be telegraphing your moves [shoulder movements, maybe pulling a certain face] then work on takign these out.
