  1. yeah its always worth having a look - you cant really tell what its gonna be like until you go.....
  2. To be honest i dont think there is a definitive guide to what McDojo is.... you relly would just have to go along and see it and decide for yourself..... you cna usually tell from teh quality when you walk in
  3. That would be the best way of solving it i agree - but then you will always have people disagreeing anyways..... just because of the differences in opinions on TKD
  4. i would say a girl or a friend who doesnt take it seriously, [unless thats the intention - i.e. for fitness] would probably put me off, just because i take it pretty seriously and it would just seem wrong....
  5. Fitness, computers, going out, engineering, buying stuff
  6. Just to clarify - im not advocating people going out and killing people to "settle" things... i didnt mean it's the right option, just that it is an option that is there.
  7. yeah i did.... it was alright i guess up until the end.... its just seemed to be an excuse to put the new characters in the film with little explanatino.
  8. number 1: A master of one thing, is better than someone with experience in everything. number 2: Dont be bound by rules and methods of looking at something ,always approach something with an open mind and be unbound. number 3: He who knows himself and has knowledge - learn from this person.... its just a discription of different types of people. Doesnt know, and doesnt know himself: ignore him doesnt know, and knows himself: a beginner teach him knows thing, doesnt know himself: enlighten him knows stuff, knows himself: learn from him. Think thats a good summary!
  9. good point - just go and train with the person for a bit - we cna sit here commenting on the likelihood of it being true for ever, but the only way you'll know is going off and finding out. Good luck
  10. no problems - we all name things differently - i imagine the difference with the skip is its more of a hop than a step
  11. Congratulations on the stripe, and good luck with the rest of your training.
  12. yes, that and think if teh person is coming towards you at speed on the horse, you might knock them off but u might also break you leg..... either way, high kicks are something taht can be worth training it - they are not appropriate for general SD - but sometimes a situation may arise where tehy are useful
  13. How i read it is that he teaches it, but not necessarily for use in a military way.... or have i read it wrong?
  14. its not about belief.... i dont believe in god, but i do believe in the universe - however many people believe one wouldnt exist without the other...... i dont see the difference here..... im just interested in finding out about the theory behind ki in any of its forms, and whether anything has yet been demonstrated or substantiated.
  15. Yes - electrical and magnetic fields are actually unified as far as the theory of them goes..... teh point is they really wouldnt extend very far.... althoug theoretically they would carry on for ever, after a couple of microns tehy begin to dissipate exponentially so that they are effectively zero..... This is just from field theory and a small knowledge of energy reproducable by the body, if anyone can explain where the energy would come from to expand teh field, im happy to listen
  16. yes adaption is part of it - but again digressing the ide a is if BOTH people are exactly equal other than their heights..... so in skill, ability to adapt, speed, etc..... would height give an advantage?
  17. well good luck with it.... generally if you look at training in the most realistic situation.... then after that its just practice
  18. Garth, I'd like to apologise if i made it out like you were challenging me in any way.... I would love the opportuninty to come and train, and if I travel up near northamptonshire then I will definitely take you up on that offer. Thank you.
  19. its about speed as well if your breaking something unsupported... im not claiming to be an expert at breaking so ill leave it to the better qualified to mention the specifics.... but breaking helps with focus, speed and technique.... its about getting the force of the technique to go straight through the board rather than directed at an angle.
  20. it was more teh suggestion that it emanates taht far from the body... i can imagine a residual charge from teh nerves making it to the skin, but not much further...
  21. SamDo - the art of posting LOTS on KF way tooo much and not having a life Windo [u get the joke] - the art of opening to let air in
  22. yeah some people i know were over there.... its been on the news here all day.... It was bound to happen eventually, my thoughts go out to those who were injured, and the families of those killed
  23. Going to Imperial College London
  24. i think to say violence NEVER solves anything is wrong.... maybe it doesnt do it often, but it cna solve things pretty finally.
  25. people have something to prove... .makes them feel big that why.
