Is this a form of karate? Where did it originate? Who founded it?

Have you gotten your Black Belt?

What is your personal opinion on what having a black belt means? How long do you think a person should study before becoming one? - I think having a black belt demonstrates having a good understanding of basics. - I think one should train for 3-5 years before becoming a black belt. Someone I know can get a black belt in another year, having trained for 1 year. I don't think 2 years is enough. What do you think?

But one living in California can legally drive at 16?

Some people seem so sure that it has been passed and the cut-off date is 1990 (I wouldn't be able to drive until I'm 18 if they did) Others say it's 89, or 91, and others say it was never passed. I can find nothing on it anywhere.

I keep hearing this rumor but can't find any real information on it. Can someone give me a link that will tell me if this is true or not?

I got to be part of the panel of black belts grading a person testing for sho dan. I would like to know the requirements for sho dan at your dojo so I can compare the how hard our sho dan test is. Thanks.

We had a Japanese karate sensei over last night and he taught me some iai. Can anybody tell me more about this art, or give me a link? I would like to learn more than what he taught me. Thanks

My kicks aren't bad, they just could be better.

I would like to know how to perfect a back kick (not tips like practice) I practice but I would like to know some drills or something like that to perfect my kick (balance and kick power) Thanks

Hey! I'm in the paper for the tournament!

Nishiyama? No, but I've heard of Nishiyama. SO... Got 1st in team kata 3rd in individual kata 4th in kumite I lost one of the round for 1 or 2 place. The other guy was up by 1 half point and it was first to a full point and there was literally 2 seconds left and I swept him ( I'm almost a foot shorter than him) and followed with a stomp kick but the head judge didn't score it. Oh well, too bad. It was a good tournament and the competitors were all friendly.

We were doing this drill with a guest sensei and the person punches at you and tries to make you blink. He was watching and he came up and said, "You blinking every time!" I can't not blink, if that makes sense.

Who here has heard of him? He came to our dojo this week. He showed me stuff I never thought of. I visit him every time I go to Japan, but I haven't actually trained with him in 3 or 4 years. I was just wondering who else has heard of him.

That's the problem, I am the BB... I"m setting a bad example. I just can't stop laughing!

I'm going to a tournament, hosted by my dojo in Southern California. Please wish me good luck... I'm a little worried about sparring people practically a foot taller than me. Oh, and also, if you are going to this tournament, please PM me as I would like to meet you there.
