  1. How many black belts does your dojo have (that currently train)? List your style, too. I do Shotokan karate and my dojo has about 10 or 11 black belts. P.S. This includes the head instuctor.
  2. Welcome to KF, enjoy the forums. http://local.google.ca/local?hl=en&near=new+york,+new+york&sc=1&q=kickboxing&spell=1 Here's a google local search for kickboxing in New York, NY.
  3. That would probably work better than what I've told you.
  4. Have you tried scraping it off with a dull knife?
  5. So the bottom should be about the chin level?
  6. Good luck!
  7. I heard that people moved 20 miles in 9 hours. Best of luck to all of you in Texas. We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Good luck, and stay safe.
  8. How high should the speed bag be in comparison to your body. I heard the bottom of the bag should be eye level, but someone else told me that's too high. How high should it be? Thanks in advance
  9. I would scrape it off a little bit at a time. I had this problem with my bike, and I bought bug and tar remover. Since your belt isn't metal, I can't advise you to do that. The best I can do for you is to tell you to scrape it off a bit at a time.
  10. Go to google local, tyoe in your new zip code/ city and state, and type in martial arts. You will get a pretty good list of martial arts schools in and near Atlanta.
  11. The only thing I've shot is a 22 at a camp. I've also airsofted. I'm planning on going to learn how to shoot pistols sometime soon.
  12. Me neither.
  13. Welcome to KF and GO SHOTOKAN!
  14. I second Jussi's recommendation of eosin panther. I recently had my original belt replaced by one of there's, and its top notch I third the recommendation.
  15. We often do "step'kumite" as a warmup to free sparring. the person calls out a technique, the other person responds with an "osu" and they began. We do 1, 3 or 5 step. On the last attack, the defender counters.
  16. How bad is the damage to your home?
  17. Well, I love my school... great people, etc. But I'm kind of struggling in some of my classes. Summer was short- I had summer school. But I'm glad I got those 4 weeks off.
  18. What do you think are pros of attending tournaments often? Any cons?
  19. I take Uniform Gloves, mouthpiece, cup (all kept in a shureido bag) Water Lunch Sometimes money and cell phone All taken in a dojo bag. I wear my clothes and dojo jacket.
  20. That's very sad to look at those pictures. I really wish you the best of luck.
  21. Where did you learn your Japanese?
  22. No problem... Hope to see you at a tournament sometime.
  23. I have a Shureido bag that fits my mouthpiece and pads.
  24. As I said in my other post, I went to a tournament in Gardena. I took 2 in kumite, but my kumite was very sloppy and nothing like the way I train. How do you retain your training at tournaments? Also, someone listed a site that has tournaments listed in every state. I posted another site, but I would like to see the site the other posted listed. If you have a site that lists tournaments by state, could you post it?
