  1. and so you say there are no whole body punching techniques in his styles so he wouldn't get it? I had heard Hapkido was a highly respected and effiecient style, I must be mistaken?
  2. I don't have enough room to do them on the floor either I have to say, if I do the same routine on the floor as I normally have to do on my bed it's harder work.
  3. I think quoting statistics without quoting the source should be illegal Also, 'some guy on a forum said' is not a source.
  4. Blinfolded Double Sticky (Real Media): rtsp://ukwingchun.com/assets/videos/Blind_Chi_Sau-(RealVideo-DSL).rm From https://www.UKWingChun.com "Self descriptive! Here you see that with some contact the Wing Chun stylist can orient himself to find ways to approach the opponent. There are purposeful breaks shown to display the theories of chum kui in bridge finding. The opponent could quite easily keep away and throw punches to defeat the blindfolded practitioner. But with some contact there is some small chance!"
  5. I assume he means it sounds like you're punching with just your arms, which lacks the power of a strike using the whole body. I think blaming the styles he takes for not being able to descipher your sarcastic jibes is pretty low, Str33t Guy. It's a bit like writing off a system because of a single fight or fighter. Narrow Minded.
  6. JJJ? Japanese Jui-Jitsu, as in traditional? Sure I have nothing against looking into that as well. I think there is a traditional Jui-Jitsu school in the (small) town where I live so I'll check it out.
  7. 'Chav' *is* the meaning of the word Moron. I despise them with a passion, a genuine hatred I have rarley felt. My friends and I often ponder the joy that would be attacking them outright, taking the fight to the scum. But, alas, we were raised with a sense of morals which prevents us.
  8. I'd say the reason MMA was dominated by the ground guys is because the strikers just didn't know what the hell was going on. You watch it now and things are becoming a lot more balanced again. I voted 50/50 in the interests of versatility
  9. rtsp://ukwingchun.com/assets/videos/Funky(RealVideo-DSL).rm This Real Media stream uses clips from the The UK Wing Chun Kung Fu Association's 'Pure and Simple' DVD. It's a promo reel I guess There are others if you like it
  10. Congrats Jules, always have liked you cause you have the same name as my best mate lol You also have a wealth of knowledge and all the best stories Well deserved.
  11. The return we get on our 'investment' is really unquantifiable, something deeply personal. It could be said that if you are happy in yourself then you are getting a good return, even if you attend a $10,000 a year McDojo which teaches you little more than boxer-cise. If you are happy you are getting a good return.
  12. Chi Sau in Wing Chun is a training drill to develop sensitivity. The point is to develop through touch alone the ability to read what your opponent is doing and react to it instinctively. You could use WC Chi Sau training along with any other martial art but you have to think about the reason it suites WC and perhaps might not suit all other styles. Wing Chun is all about close range fighting, if you're unable to develop power at this range, or you have never trained this kind of strike then you could be the greatest Chi Sau practitioner that ever lived and you'll never do any damage. You wont get hurt and you'll make the guy look like a fool, but you wont ever hurt him. For instance I've read Karate (don't remember the style, sorry) practitioners on this forum say they have a 'bubble' that they don't let anyone enter. I don't think learning Chi Sau would be of great benefit when fighting with these kinds of ideas because you're objective is to prevent it's application ever coming in to play. To answer the question specifically, no it is not exclusive to Wing Chun, but I am under the impression it is most highly utilised in Wing Chun. I'm afraid I can't remember the names of other styles that use it off the top of my head.
  13. Stored in government files, lol why? Tad ambiguous of a statement if you ask me. I presume you're saying he should be more careful if he wants to remain credible, not implying that the G-men will come for him with their 'files' As for the article, it seemed to me all he was saying was that 'plain' Kung Fu (that works) looks functional not fancy. Something anyone involved in the CMA scene would know anyway.
  14. The main thing I gain from Kung Fu aside from learning the actual skills are self discipline and personal goals, a sense of direction you could say. Both rewarding in them selves
  15. Which muscles do you want to work? there are loads of types of push-ups.
  16. Are you looking forwards with your chin on your chest? That should help keep your back flat.
  17. There is a club where I live and I'd be interesting in joining. Anyone know anything about this style?
  18. And how can I do a dip (or indeed some dips) at home?
  19. what ARE dips? lol...seriously
  20. You make these shakes in a blender or something? Can anyone point me a website where I could havea look at what my dailt calorie intake might be? I'm 6'1 and I've been 10st 4 forever, need to gain some weight!
