Do you really want to know how gravity is meant to work...because it's a tad complex! (I'll give it a go if you like though lol). On the paint thing, yes it's the wavelengths that give you the colour you see, but a yellow object doesn't reflect everything apart from yellow, it ONLY reflects yellow, hence you only see yellow I have a question! How many States in the US support removing evolution from the curriculum?

Anyone seen the remake of Battle Star Galactica? I've been told it rocks. Really Rocks.

Yeah I got sweet fa. Well a box of chocolates from my girlfriend. Which almost makes up for the all expenses paid trip to London for dinner (don't worry I am in the UK lol).

I have SC2 on Xbox, quite like Spawn. I'm a Tekken nut though, and as a few people have said Heihachi, Jin and Kazuya all use 'Mishima style Karate' and in Tekken 4 (I assume so you don't have 3 characters with 90% of the same moves) Jin 'unlearns' Mishima style Karate and learns the highly ambiguous 'Traditional Karate' As an aside, Tekken 5 will have an online mode and anyone that wants a good game I'll be more than happy to take you on

Matrix Poll
Nick_UKWC replied to stl_karateka's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
In terms of the best film that's a no brainer, the first Matrix. I think I've watched Reloaded's fight scenes more often though, esp from the escape of the Key Maker to the truck rescue by Neo. That has to be one of the best action sequences of any film. -
In a word, no. We can not explain this to you.

The line between fancy and effective
Nick_UKWC replied to Karate Kid's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
In my humble opinion (the opinion of someone with only 14 months training and no real life application) if there is a more simple way of getting the effect you're going for than the move you've chosen that move is too 'fancy'. In a tournament you may be able to go for something a little more fancy than the absolute basics to earn more points and risk being put on your backside, but you risk a lot more in a real fight. -
this thread has in the words of Monty Python got "too silly, far too silly"

most important condioning for pro MMA fighter?
Nick_UKWC replied to Muaythaiboxer's topic in Health and Fitness
With regards to running, I've read that jogging long distances with sprints at intervals and up and down as many hills as possible was the best way for it to help you. Of course to me that just sounds like an extreme way to knacker yourself out, but I guess that's the point -
I'd have to say Thai Boxing because of the way it is trained. If you trained your kung fu like a MT guy trained though...you'd be dangerous

no pain, no gain?
Nick_UKWC replied to taiji fajin's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Oh how I laughed the first time I read that, right up my street I think as far as the saying goes it's a matter of common sense. If your objective is to condition your leg then kicking a lamppost and breaking your shin is obviously not going to give you any 'gain' but then neither is kicking a pillow lol. Hmm, perhaps 'No Pain No Gain' could also be expressed as 'There's no such thing as a free lunch' i.e. don't expect something for nothing -

Nick_UKWC replied to Ali's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
I'm sorry to say I'm not really convinced by any of Mr Wang's video demos. His foot work looks a bit ropey and his techniques seem to lack consistency even in a setup and predictable and repetitive as that. -
If I had the chance to take up a ground art now, I would. I certainly wouldn't take on another stand up art at the same time as Wing Chun though.

knocking sense into a person!
Nick_UKWC replied to pineapple's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Hell no! If we disagree, or rather don't understand something being taught...any doubts really we ask and everything is explained, justified, demo'd until we're satisfied. This way not only do we come round to his way of thinking (and you always do) but you actually learn something as well! yay! -

Essay on Wing Chun
Nick_UKWC replied to Ali's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Hmm yeah, so they're saying a bunch of people have changed Wing Chun to their own ends and have discredited other forms of Wing Chun in the process. Thus making Wing Chun as a whole less credible? -
