  1. I just love Virtua Fighter, why is that I study Baji Quan, it is because of Akira Yuki, the best Baji Quan fighter ever seen in a video game. All the other Baji Quan fighters like Yun (Street Fighter 3), Michelle Chang, Julia Chang (Tekken) and Gato(KOF) are just some worthless wannabes.
  2. "This is a style supposedly named for the grandson of Sun Tzu, the author of that famous military text "The Art of War" (Bing Fa). Sun Bin was himself an important writer and his commentaries are considered classics of Chinese military theory. The Art of War and Sun Bin's writings have been read and studied throughout Asia for hundreds of years and influence personal martial studies as well as wider military applications. This style is a Long Fist of fluid motions and light energy. It's most immediately distinctive feature is a high stance almost on the toes like a boxer during certain actions. Some of its sets relate to Mei Hua Plum Blossom Boxing."
  3. Bo and Jo, what's the difference?
  4. So what is the thing that truly made Tang Soo Do unique from other martial arts?? Oh by the way, I find that quite a few Tang Soo Do people actually look down at Tae Kwon Do as they believe TKD had forgot the true meaning martial art and totally move into a sport.
  5. Hi Ted T, What is "Liu He Ba Fa"? Is it same as "Xinyi Liu He Quan"?
  6. Hi gojuchad. The Emperor's longfist or "Tai Zu Chang Quan" is one of the oldest form of Chinese martial art. It was consider by some the first long fist style ever existed, from it came the other long fist style like Cha Quan, Ba Shan Fan and many others. I don't really know a lot about this style but I highly recommand you to check it out, it is truly a great style.
  7. Wow...those guys in Shito Ryu, are they able to remember all 50 of them??
  8. That's neat, I even noticed that Tang Soo Do have some really old Karate Katas that you rarely find them in Karate today.
  9. Hi, I have a question about the Katas of Tang Soo Do, is Tang Soo Do using the same Kata as Shotokan Karate? I saw some of them like "Pyung An Cho Dan" and "Pyung An Ne Dan" they look just like Heian Shodan, Heian Nidan of Shotokan and some what resemble the Pinan Shodan and Pinan Nidan of Shorin Ryu.
  10. Thanks man, from what I have seen so far, Shotokan seems to have the most Katas.
  11. There's also Xing Yi Quan, they have 12 animal forms I believe snake is one of them.
  12. Can anyone here list the full sets of Goju Ryu kata? Thanks.
  13. You can learn Hung Gar, I believe there's a snake form in there.
  14. Do you have any Hapkido ones?
  15. That guy's dead?
  16. Hi, anyone here know where can I download some good clips of Hapkido, TKD and Tang Soo Do?
  17. Man!! This one's really cool. Good one, thanks man. Oh there's something I want to ask, are these kicks really effective in a real combat? Thanks.
  18. Yes SevenStar, there's still much more for me to learn, thanks.
  19. Hi judoguy I am sorry that I didn't state my sentence clearly. My master grew up in a martial art school in China, they train everyday and martial art is the only thing they learn. He had to study many different forms and had been there for almost 30 years. Xing Yi was just part of his training and while his Xing Yi instructor made him to stay in the stance for 4 years in order to make him ready, he was learning some other style the same time. It as just to prepare him to what was going to come next. This is as clear as I can state it, if you still think it's silly and crap, then I have nothing more to say.
  20. Here's something about wushu Chang Quan http://www.gaopu.com/KA/nyumon.html
  21. Hey SevenStar, I had train in Longfist too and those Wushu longfist are really full of crap and that's that there is no need to insult anyone ok? Nobody is wasting anytime on anyone we're cool are we? Yes I had only train in Baji Quan for two month from a teacher that takes away the time I study it by myself and read books about it. In some school around Vancouver, Baji Quan was use as a building block to train more advance style like Xing Yi and Bagua, you can check with that if you prefer. One more thing, Long fist type style are not crap as I said, I have great respect for Long fist styles like Cha Quan, Hua Quan, Pao Quan and Ba Shan Fan. From the view of a combat art Wushu Longfist is useless just like Nan Quan and other Wushu style. You're right I don't really know much that is why I am here to learn from you guys if I said anything that is wrong you are very welcome to correct me and please don't look down at me because you think I am just a newbie thanks.
  22. Actually no, it some what look more like a Katana but longer and straighter, here's some picture I can find. http://kungfucou.free.fr/galerie%20armes/pages/miao%20dao.htm http://www.pachitanglang.com/writings/marit01.htm http://www.gaopu.com/miao.HTML
  23. Hey Drunken Monkey I am really not so sure because I don't believe that I can know everything so whatever I mention below will be from my point of view. The longfist you mentioned is called "Tai Zu" long fist, yes it is one of the oldest type of Chinese style and it is from Tai Zu that came many other long fist styles like Cha Quan and others. Well ,the longfist I mention is a style called "longfist" which was created for Wushu. It just combine all the beautiful moves of all different kinds of different longfist style and use them as a kind of Wushu performce, it is good for building your basics but has no combat value like other types of Wushu. I learned longfist when I was in primary school when I was like 7 or 8. Yes Nan Quan does means Southern Fist and it is just like long fist which is a Wushu version of Southern Fist with a combo moves of Hung Gar, Choy Lee Fut and other Southern family styles. The moves are all those beautiful and ineffective moves you can find in those Southern style. What I really mean is that if someone told you he's learning longfist or Nan Quan as a style, it means they are really learn Wushu while not really a combat art. If you know that I maybe wrong anywhere you are very welcome to correct me, that is the only way I can learn more about everything, thank you very much.
  24. Anyone here practice or even heard of the Chinese two handed sword known as Miao Dao??
  25. I guess then it could be true, however I do believe Baji Quan works better with Pigua Zhang rather than Bagua Zhang
