  1. I really love Raven's fighting style, can you really learn it from some where and are they really effective?
  2. It's not going to happen, Angle is fight Shawl Micheal this Westlemania.
  3. Anybody here do Ninjustsu? I just want to know it is similiar to what Raven was doing in Tekken 5?
  4. That's not a style, it is no different as if to say Jin or Kazuya's fighting style is "Japanese martial art".
  5. What do you guys think about the fighting styles in Tekken 5? By the way, does anyone knows just which Chinese style is Feng Wei using?
  6. Thanks guys for your advices, I know I am already pretty rusty in TKD, if I am going to be in a real tight spot and just switch to Baji Quan do my usuals. Actually I never intend to defeat him in TKD but just prove it's effectiveness in front of him win or lose doesn't matter.
  7. If the BJJ guy is an active practitioner, I think you'd be making a big mistake by sparring him. Hopefully he has excellent control. As others have said, its all in the setup and execution. All things being equal, I'd bet on the BJJ guy over a TKD only guy, but things are never all equal, and it appears that in this case, the TKD guy is already at big disadvantage in that he is not currently studying. If the BJJ guy has any experience sparring against TKD, or if you are rusty, I think he's only going to walk away thinking he was right about TKD. (unless you just have a big physical or natural skill advantage) I fought him once and it end up in a draw but then I was using Baji Quan. I don't plan to defeat him with TKD all I plan to do is to show him that TKD is also effective and he should not walk around dissing TKD.
  8. I agree, that's why I gave up TKD the first place but I still believe I can take in down with one really effective will place high kick at the right moment.
  9. What's the most effective high kick in Tae Kwon Do? I took Tae Kwon Do when I was 10 and afraid that I had very much unlearned most of it. I grew tired of hearing my BJJ friends calling TKD weak and wish to show they some effective kicks so that they can stop dissing TKD. I agreed that I'll spar with them next sat using only TKD can anyone help me refresh me memories a little, thanks.
  10. BJJ is a great martial art but too bad most who study it show no respect for other martial artist.
  11. Stay away from Wushu, they are mostly all shows. If you are interested in a Chinese style, pick a school like Hung Gar, Wing Chun or Baji Quan definitely not Wushu.
  12. Boxing is a part of western culture, nothing can beat boxing in the west just like nothing beats Chinese martial art in China, Japanese in Japan, Korean in Korea and so on.
  13. Just for the fun of it, Shotokan is pronounced as "Cong Tao Guan" in Chinese.
  14. Those big fat guy might have a power advantage. If they have no martial art training at all they definitely have problem with balance which you can take advantage for an easy take down. If he's a trained martial artist you need to use your speed advantage for that. And one more thing usually when you are fighting a big fat guy stamnia is on your side if you can't defeat him by meeting head on try out last them cause they will get tired sooner than you are.
  15. Hi I just wish you guys to could tell what do you feel about Baji Quan because the longer I practice the more I don't feel that it is a martial art or any form of "art" at all. Do you guys think Baji Quan is really a martial art or a combat skill? Thanks.
  16. I am a freshman in University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Oh by the way isshinryu5toforever, "战士的最高的目标是将他的剑放下" very well said.
  17. In terms of pure strikes, I believe Muay Thai has no rival, the only weakness of Muay Thai is the lack of throws that those San Shou guys have.
  18. Baji Quan. Simple, effective and powerful.
  19. I believe the style you looking for is called Baji Quan. This is definitely a harder Chinese style comparing to all others. If any people think Kung Fu are all soft they should take a look at Baji Quan and Hung Gar.
  20. Kung Fu are not really softer than karate but it is just that those famous ones are those soft ones there are many others styles that are as hard and as linear as Shotokan for example like Baji Quan, Ba Shan Fan and many other southern styles. I won't which one are better but it is best for you to go for the one that you will love, since you are leaning towards Karate I would highly sugesst you to go for Karate my personal opinion is go for Goju Ryu. Good luck.
  21. Just want to as if anyone have some good Muay Thai roundhouse clips, thank you.
  22. I am someone with one Karate back ground but all I can say is that Shorin Ryu seems to be harder and much more linear than Goju Ryu and is very close to Shotokan with almost the same sets of katas. Goju Ryu uses complete different katas and is balanced between hard and soft styles.
  23. In Mandarin, all kinds of wrestling are called "Shuai Chiao" this include Western wrestling, Mongolian wrestling and even pro wrestling.
