well the main thing about is that you should always keep your cool. The intellegent fighter is always better than the furious fighter. Some people when fighting or sparring get aggrivated if they cant hit the opponent which leads them into going into a frenzy and do what they could do to get a hit.The intellegent fighter always stays calm and knows what he is doing...giving him an advantage.

Early TKD techniques
Little Dragon replied to jestercheck's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
nope.Though most tkd schools work on tournements these days. Its more of a slef-defense and martial arts than sports.TKD got into olympic events about a few years ago cuz(in my opinion) unlike some other martial arts you dun reli get into fancy stances,no grabbing, full body protection, and just gettin points from hittin da colored circle. -
Tkd for fanciness?!
Little Dragon replied to Little Dragon's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
do you know what kind of karate it was? since there are different styled ones they could be a little different from eachother. But thanks for responding to my question by the way :] -
Ok,today at church i was talking to a friend of mines. He is older than i am and has taken both tkd and ken-ryu karate(iono if i said it right,if i did then forgive me).He told me in ways that karate is better than tkd for actually encounters of fights, and said that tkd is sort of like fancy pants moves. But when i asked him which style he liked better he responded with tkd but didnt tell me why. For those people who take both karate and tkd..whut do u think?

I want to train with nunchaku, any recommended videos?
Little Dragon replied to Croy's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
maybe korea.. korea has a lot of street fights of school rivalry or what not.Usually they have weapons..maybe they can use nunchaku's...iono just a opinion-.- -
When getting hit isnt it all about your mental power? I was watching this true story korean video about this boxer in korea who was a poor fellow selling coloring books until he got into a fight and got discovered for his fighting. He became one of the best in korea, and the thing is whenever he got hit,he would think that HE hit the guy instead.Eventually this guy died from a brain tumor for getting hit to much. But the point is he always got up not because he was tough,it was because he was mentally strong and kept going.

First Belt Test today! Wish me luck!
Little Dragon replied to asynk's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Remember that your doing the est for yourself, not to entertain the 100+ people.Just focus on the mat you stand on and just pretend as if they are not there.Your shyness will eventually go away after a couple of tests. btw congrats to you and your wife. -

Little Dragon replied to kle1n's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Watching Action movies was my first reason, but as i got into it,it eventually turned into protecting myself and my loved ones. And there were times when i just wanted to fight. -

If I Had a Million Dollars!
Little Dragon replied to Matousek's topic in Instructors and School Owners
If its a free school, and if you had all those things you just said, you wouldnt last to long with the schools financial problems. Im also curious to know what style would you teach them..since you have ''none'' for styles. And do you have enough experience to teach how to handle weapons? -
lower back muscle pains.Every kick, every waist twistin, even every step made it hurt.Got to a point where i could barely stand up straight..then got acupuncture and all went away.

basically it is squats but more intense and have to endure more soreness. Basically just get into a squat position, and put your hands behind your head and hop for awhile.Start at 30 seconds..then bring it to 45..then a minute..and so on.
-
you should lift only every other night, muscles need time to heal..cant rush things.Dont just do your arms and upperbody, remember to also do bunnie hops to help build up endurance and thigh muscles.

Little Dragon replied to Matousek's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
nice. And you can take it anywhere!! -
reli? i tried it counter with sidekick but it never works for me,i still get hit in the stomach.Back kick helps for me cuz when they kick my body turns at the same time so they miss or atleast hit my back.

TKD=Tae Kwon Do
Little Dragon replied to Karatekid04's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
side kick is a basic tkd kick, you should have learned it.Remember to lean down and kick with the bottom of your foot. And keep your head up for balance. -
the first correction I would make is direction - don't go backwards - sidestep. if you are finding it hard to step at angles, then you may need to change your stance. Describe your fighting stance. or just counter with a back kick, always works for me :]

hm...I have one. Uh my freshman year of highschool(last year,yes..im young xP).During that time I was curious on how good or bad i was in a real fight from tkd and from training at home so one day i decided to get into a fight to test myself.I ended up getting into a fight with a junior named Bryan. We fought and i eventually came out the winner,i was so proud of myself but i felt really guilty seeing him on the floor curled up and i also got suspention and sent to alternate school for awhile.Near the end of the year i finally built up the courage to apologize as using him as a lab rat for my test.Hahaha and now were pretty close friends..quite odd but true story =D also when my master found out i got into a fight.....wheeeeeeeeewwwww you dun wanna know..haha

Pai Mei - Kill Bill Vollume 2
Little Dragon replied to Neo's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
Pei Mei is just a fictional character created for the movie. There are no bio's of him except for the guy who played the role. The style he was teaching Biatrix was kung fu..more specifically,it looked more like some kind of crane style since his arm was always in the crane position..im not to sure..
