  1. Although, some of the practitioners in my class can get a leg check to chest level, I haven't seen one to the head. So perhaps we are still not talking about the same kick. So, I apologize, for I seem to not be able to fully understand what you are describing, although I am very much interested.
  2. No, my answers are my opinions from what I have been told, experienced/learned and researched. In all, the preceding process continues. So with my opinions, my final, will be a result from the process per as they unfold. But such opinions change as I read other people's opinions. Or such opinions of others I will agree or concur with my original opinion. So, my final opinion maybe spoken/written by someone else that I agree with. To qoute a American saying "He/she Took The Words Right Out of My Mouth" I am not claiming to have answers, just opinions. I have the right to my opinions as others have of theirs.
  3. The belt acquired is a dual symbol of appreciation. The instructor issues it in the appreciation of all that the student had accomplished. The student recieves in the appreciation of all the instruction and guidance. The exchange of a appreciation was already intrinsic with the belt test. So why not give the instructor a present at any time else? Is the present a further token of appreciation? That is fine. In summary, a gift is a gift no matter the event or timing. It is the "thought" that accompanies the gift. In other words, per a American saying "It Is The Thought That Counts"
  4. Spin, I like the nunchaku swing "smiley".
  5. I am not refering to my teaching masters. So far, I haven't found a Chi master that I can disprove them to have physical and mental conditioning. Not to mention the props (materials0 that they use. But, I am still searching. Your "testing" seemed to be hard like mine were. I can go on many training and testing procedures that will make a McDojo seem like a pen of plastic balls with pieces of stale french fries.
  6. I thought crack was illegal?
  7. Right, I guess people are posting suggestions or opnions. So, it can be your decision to take these and give consideration as to present them.
  8. Or, its my opinion that you are right.... Or the saying...opinions are.........
  9. Well, I am still researching it, until then I am not inclined to believe it.
  10. Miyagi says: "Daniel-son- Karate is a road: Walk on one side-ok Wlak on other side-ok Walk in middle-get squashed like a grape"
  11. My responses are not there to "do something" for you. Discussions are nice. Sometimes discussions end in arguments. Arguements can get heated. In all, I understand what you are saying, your opinion is noted.
  12. No, per say a professional boxer against someone whom cannot take a hit. The boxer is a trained striker is he not?
  13. I have to agree. I like to believe that the more methods one has, the more versitlity they can achieve.
  14. I am getting ready to post my final opinion. I am reading others (and other threads). After I post my final opinion on the subject/thread, unless someone directs a post towards me, or for that matter post on the thread, that is different and interesting, I will no longer be on that thread. Yes, it is tedious to come back and respond.
  15. well, we all have some grammatical errors. I did not know this was a spelling bee competition.
  16. Yes, People can agree or disagree with an opinion. But I am not going to tell you that your opinion is wrong. Websites such as these, people are voicing their opinions, via posting. It is up to the reader to agree or disagree with a opinion/post. If you look up the English defination of opinion, you will find what i am saying. However, the English definition is not the infinitive defining of the subject Opinions are individual comments formulating from beliefs. My opinion
  17. asynk, Thus is the case from a instructor's view that the youth dsire the "sport" of it. Howver, when you get to a higher ranking, request that tou desire more defense vs. sport. I am sure he will accomodate your needs/request.
  18. Woe if you ever have to seriously defend yourself. But I understand what you mean Python. "To each His/Her Own"
  19. Yeah, enjoy your hobby...... "knock yourself out" Some can tell that you are not "serious" Sometimes if you ask what does anyone think, prepare for a multitude of opinions. I still had enjoyed this thread
  20. Physical conditioning... most arts have this Self defense................some arts lack this, or lack a complete structure of Spiritual......................depnds on what is determined as Discipline....................most arts command this for a level of proficiency Punches......................one technique to a endless arsenal Kicks..........................ditto Weapons....................."traditional" can not be applied in modern defense. It can come down to opinion, I agree with Seven Star on this..... There....no "one-liner"
  21. So, who/what are the primary masters/lineages? Anone have any interesting links?
  22. So, best techniques to end a fight depends on the situation and how the law interputs it?
