Yes, the above not the Japanese/Okinawan...replace with others) is one of the bases for the thread I had started "Gong Fu (Kung Fu) is not an actual martial art." Because it depends on the person recognizing the term in accordance with their dialogue, translation, and accepted terminology. A second base for that thread, was to probe to see the different opinions. -
Yes, When I first mentioned that DM liked to "strut", this was in a good fashion. In my area/hometown, we say: “Go Ahead On With Your Bad Self” Meaning: “You were impressive, please continue” Or we may say: He/she likes to “strut” (or strut their stuff) Meaning: “They (he/she) shown well what they know" DM said he was being “pedantic” about the actual words and grammer used"… So upon his terms, I stepped up with another word-DM is so ostentatious, (per in a good way) I then followed it by: aka/slang "strut". Following: And yes, I agree to the term fighting arts becoming a recognizable term for a broader, accurate distinction. Now this comes to the point, that DM stated, from what I perceived, where the literal translation of Kung Fu changes in proportion to the dialogue. Hence, my word usage/dialogue, misunderstood and taken literary, or its literal translation, was not meant to insult. I do not retract my apology. An apology is never being beneath me to do so-humbly. Master Jules, you are so right.

Yes, I understand that. The same conflict I have within on many subjects. Being exposed to a Mandarin family and Mandarin dialogue, not to mention that family usage "slang" But, the difference meaning much to me, if I am to learn. -
Yes, you are quit correct. This is the same with most communication and dialogue. Things are often mis-read, misiunderstood, or mis-comunicated.
