  2. Wait til you get against someone that is putting it on you and you start to loose bad, you wont be "smiling" anymore.
  3. Here is a question: Can the Sai be used effectively against the sword?
  4. Yeah, I can agree to that-hence it is a Chinese term.
  5. Sorry all, Red J is correct. The time it takes is as the many diferrences per MA. There is no "complete" standard of time. However, I am curious to know, what others think that a "average" time should be to make it to 1st Dan?
  6. One thing that has to be remembered, he is posting his answer from his style/experience. Other people's styles and experience will have different answers. So, his cannot be "the answer". Maybe for him, but not for others.
  7. Is it the "philosphy" of the instructor/school, to not spar until a "specific time"?
  8. I see what you are saying. Please correct if need to. A judge from your style, will most likely understand your form, give you more points, or the win?
  9. The numbers are shocking. People come and go because they get into and leave MA for various reasons. Some, perhaps: 1.) Peer pressure/"new" fad 2.) Self-defense 3.) Coveted Black Belt 4.) Mthylogical mislead 5.) Residential Relocation 6.) Bored/de-motivated/lost interest 7.) Lack of time/Scedule
  10. Well give the literally translation of Kung Fu, i.e. skill, then anyone with good skill, whom had used it in a fight. Given the specific of Chinese Kung Fu, per style/system, the answer would be yes.

  12. Right now, I genuflect to the pale spellcaster
  13. Ah yes, the "animal planet" has a "history" of many "discoveries"
  14. Practice or experience from eruditon? What if practcing something is bad-incorrect-blind, and no skill is ever achieved?
  15. Yeah, he has all the links in bold. Aaron Little, the only one that I was interested in was Perfomance Edge Martial Arts. Nice layout, who created that site?
  16. Is it a waste of money, or a "image thing"?
  17. There you go, I was speaking of those that point spar, per competiton, verses those that spar for other reasons.
  18. Practice, like training practice? I knew a few guys that have none, in this term, sort to speak. These guys don't practice, they fight/brawl. I mean naturally or non-formal, no MA training. Perhaps, at this moment, I can't find the right words to convey.
  19. In some cases, when the student "opens" their walet more
  20. Sorry about the "caps", it isnt yelling. I had it saved in caps somewhere, but I copied and pasted it without scrutiny of checking out UC
  21. Yeah, but the "steak", when done to "taste", is nice to "consume".
