Ronin has size 10 but not sure about V-neck,
-
I think you really wanted to hit him, in a bike show it's the most normal to bump into someone, and i can't believe you did it with no control, the whole shotokan is about control and you are a dan rank,
-
if you can find a good Uechi ryu school take it over ryu-te which is a jujutsu art mix with shorin ryu. if not look for a Okinawan ryu Goju school, allways instructor comes first though,

did you open the dojo? post some pictures. -
did you fall into sleep? this could be one of the longest, most of them are shorter camparable to Bassai Dai or Kusanku Dai in shotokan. some of them show the techniques in all four directions or sequences are repeated 3 times based on Sanchin exercise so they look longer.

it's a very traditional shuri-te style, i like it too,i looked into some of the web sites it seems to be a Kyan lineage of shuri-te. you found something great stay with it.

a real martial artist gotta have at least 6 patches. 2 on the arms, 3 on the chest, one on the back side.

That I would pay to see You know, one of the female black belts in my class set me up like that once. She said: "I think you should toss Mr. Walker around for the demo, doing self defense!" What's the deal? Nobody likes me!!!! Just kidding! it's so cool to toss a 200lbs guy , boooooomb...............booooooooomb

what martial arts book should i choose
P.A.L replied to masterintraining's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I agree with krunchyfrogg. Living the Martial Way is really good. what is it about? i bought "hostory and traditions of Okinawan Karate" last week and i didn't like it. -
exactly,i learned things which help me a lot 1- i wouldn't close my eyes when i get punched like before and i can disengage more effectively, 2- i learned to move under a jab quickly to 45 and come up for a heavy punch to the side of the head 3- i learned to move under a jab to 45 and stick a counter jab from under to the chin. 4- my penny droped that i can't win without getting hit at all and blocking doesn't solve the problem.
-
everybody should try this, spar with no blocking at all, force yourself not to block(i guess it's ok if you block on reverse punch to avoid a knock out), just evading and counter moves. you do that for a while and see the difference,
-
as others mentioned before Okinawan Goju ryu is what you looking for and kaki is semilar to wing chun hand drills, i want to add one more thing to your statment, in close range you block and strike at the same time. the kick we use in close range , we call it weep kick(not sure about the name) it means when you are hanging to the opponent and pulling him at the same time you draw your front leg behind you and swing the toe kick from there so there is no chambering in the kick, it's great in a clinch.
-
how the leg press works?what's the setup or machin?
-
same with us, but we practice the technques against them, We jam into it with our elbow and forarm while sweeping the back leg from the side, it work great againt jumping mawashi geri or double jumping mawashi geri since you don't even have to body change, last time i saw it ,the guy got knocked down because of hard landing .

go under stances and look for kekutso dachi, is it the way you do it?
-
https://www.katamasters.com has loads of katas , from many styles, here is a Hakutsuru kata from shotokan point of view http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YF-Wb16P6I4 i'll post a hakutsuru kata in youtube.com but i will remove it quick , search under "kunimura hakutsuru"

you didn't explain enough, do you feel pain? do you keep forgetting it? do you feel tired? the best thing for correcting it is to put a BO in your belt in such a way you feel it on 2 point of upper and lower back. one more thing the back foot is in 45 degree not 90, the width of the stance is not more than the width of a fist , and the length of stance is not less than one foot plus width of a fist. this is according to shorinkan/kobayashi ryu/shobayashi ryu/Mstsumura seito , I don't know what you practice.
-
I am so happy now , i was always afraid it is Karate K(Khrushchev)
-
IMHO 2-3 katas are enough for a compelet self defense system, but you need to spend the same amount of time or even more in mastery of techniques and combinations.
-
which one you refering to? the first one by Mr. Lindsey or second one with Sensei Matayoshi? did you see the second clip? is this the one you refering as matayoshi Hakutsuru? do you practice any crane kata? do you use it in self defense techniques?
-
Rick_72 Technique wise everything should be the same, walking the floor should be same we use high stances, but your katas actually predate our katas, the major differences are probebly in Kusanku and Passai that we got sho and dai in each of them, some of your katas we don't practice anymore, i can tell you that you won't suffer the much that i suffered in a shito ryu school for one year, one more thing, what's the lineage of the school? through Nakazato or Miyahira ?
