Ju-jitsu vs. Karate
Mart replied to Sky's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
pretty much i dont go for this its all about the fighter, when you compare systems you look at them as systems, fighters are irrelevant. like when you go to the hardware store and choose a set of tools, if you can affford it you get the best. What you can do with these is another matter but yes you can compare one car to another regardles of driver and some cars are pure and simple better than others. Same with martial arts, BJJ is the best tool kit for the ground. and mostly they can take a striker down unless he has the tools to stop a takedown. -
LOL flainling limbs your reallly funny. Gloves were put in to stop face cuts and hand cuts. There is less blood. You cant have much of fight career if your face is covered in scar tissue which opens easily. The extra weight of the glove gives you greater force. If you have ever fought with gloves you would know that it is worse with gloves on. The eextra masss moves your head more which affects your brain. Bare knuckle damages your skin more but doesnt rock you so much. Moving and bashing the brain is much more dangerous and yes there is a movement to remove the gloves and go back to bare knuckle or close to it.

bring me to america i'll fight your bjj practitioner. lol then we can make another of those funny video where teh BJJ guy hands the other guy his * on a plate -
lol, yeah i understand monkey, you kust dont like full contact
-
Im not braggin im telling the truth, if you want to ry it it out find your neares MT or KK gym and ask to spar full contact and then you wil know what i mean. If your so certain go and try, if you want to set some rules they may go along with them as well.
-
only have to learn the full contact game. I think this is 50 to 60% of what i do. I cant agree with you on this. The full contact aspect is really hard, there are so many lessons to be learnt and for each person these are different. Each person must find what they can and cant apply and try to work on what is difficult for them. There are so many other things to learn from it , i could write a book on it. We still try and execute the techniques perfectly but under whole range of different pressures.

I think you make an interesting point Monkey. However i would say that the technique should not be sloppy, full contact is by no means swining your arms like mad at your opponent, though i have seen places where this is the case. Full contact should be done slowly to start off with and built up so correct technique is maintained until it can be done correctly at full speed. Your point is fully valid under certain conditions. The instruction needs to be of a high standard so that technique practiced on the pads is not lost when sparring.

lol, what did they invent again? Oh yeah they found Brazil, but wasnt that there before they found it........

Ok first off there are very few thai boxers who have problems in old and. Indeed many in thailand are teaching into their old age and they fought every 3 weeks when they were younger. So the street has no rules, full contact has some rules, semi contact has nore rules, no contact has even more. So full contact is closer. It always makes me laugh when i spar guys full contact under any rules they like and they realise that the techniques they want to use dont work when theyve just been hit. And boy does there first punch have an effect on them. Suddenly they cant deal with it. its a new world and they are out of their depth. I have seen this many times.

Humm but what if the situation is more than one on one, would you change it then. In my experience a group even if its only two people, has a leader. The guy that is starting it all. Wouldnt it be better to lay the guy out and show you have no fear of them. If you lay out the rest of the group has something to think about now. However, if you let the leader throw the first punch. Most likely his group will pile in and you got a real fight on your hands. Let me know what you think. I guess every situation takes jusdgement but i would be more likely to do as i have stated. As far as the law goes that is a secondary consideration and i would not be aiming to kill them, but as far as knocking them out i couldnt care less

But isnt portugal in spain....which is in America? between brazil and Israel.
-
yeah but the women have got well droopy knockers.
-
So Rahiminos, you didnt tell us where portugal is. I only got that it is part of Spain.
-
what i saw was not in clinch range but punching range i think it works at the speed i saw it.
-
yuuuuucckkkkkkk!
-
Yes please that would be great, it would be cool for the other thai boxers to see as well so they can see what i mean.

I got this Karate video the other day which was mainly shotokan but had a sectin devoted to KK. I noticed some of the guys using knee to the head very effectively in punching range. They would counter a punch with it. Normally in MT the knee to the head is done in the clinch or as a jump knee. I was really impressed with this and im going to start adding it to my training. I can see how its being used so i can just implement it and the technique looks the same. I never thougth of using it quite like that. I will introduce it to sparring down the gym and see if it catches on.

But Dijita why would you bother.............i thought girls didnt sweat

90% of all fights end up on the ground?
Mart replied to Mart's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I posed the question because its soemthing i have heard alot. If its boring dont answer. You dont even have to read it. I dont think i cant be taken to the ground, the chances of an unskilled attacker taking me to the ground are limited, but i should still know what to do because you never know. -
