Your Best Sparing Combos
Mart replied to CPU's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
loads to choose from and i dont conciously pick a combo and use it i just react to what happens so i will give some i like doing on the pads. im orthodox so left foot forward jab cross fall through left low kick cross, left uppercut, cross, left hook, right low kick jab,, cross, step in left shovel hook, right lateral elbow step out and back in with cross for counter. i dont know, theres loads of stuff you can do. i could go on all day, i like knees most, though i fight predominently as a punch knee guy.although the above doesnt reflect that. -

What's happened to the real meaning of the arts?

I know its only a film and i dont judge americans by this, just the film makers. They keep taking recent history and making it american. It annoys me that the film makers seem to think america is the only country on the planet. -
Wasnt sure where to post this but as this is aimed at anyone i guess general. So i expect youve heard this before that 90% of fights end up on the ground. My question is does your system allow for the ground. Does it only deal with stand up? if so are you worried about going to the ground. Personally i figuer that 9/10 fights end up on the ground but 10/10 fights start standing up. So my choice was to get thsi bit right first. and maybe those figures change. I have done some ground stuff before and practice lots of anti take down drills with some BJJ guys i know but hey, i cant fight on the ground yet. I knowi am vulnerable here and plan to do BJJ some day. What are youre thought?

I think body shots are very useful, particularly if they are faster than you. However i would use my knees to the body rather than my fists as knees are more solid and more powerful. -------- told you

The original guy was british not american (dont get me started on this, that stupid american film about the enigma)and he was navy not army and gave the shogun guy the best ships, he was a ship builder. Anyway, amongst other american manglings of history i thinkthis fairs better than some. Regardsing western ideas engulfing the east. I was recently in thailand and i can tell you our ideas are having ZERO impact there. But the girls are partial to the western clothing etc. If you go there i think you will find they are ignoring the western ideas. -

Karateka the bow does not conflict with religion. Not bowing down to anyone other than God is a metaphor. also, im worried by your signature. Never kick a guy that is on the floor. If he is donw properly its over. All to often nowadays people like to play stompsies on peoples heads leaving them with massive brain damage. Unless the guy has killed a loved one or something you should, IMHO, look very carefully to see when the fight is over then stop. -
You dirty girl. And they allow this at your club. What is MA coming to.

The reaction i get is, they find out i do MT, they say ah yeah thats alright if they arent armed but "what if theyve got a gun", everytime. So i just tell them about my go-go gadget copter. What the hell was that, i mean inspector gadget has a helicopter in his head, who comes up with this stuff. Tang soo guy You're right...I hate it when people come up to me and ask me "Are you a black belt?"...especially when I'm wearing my uniform and they can see that my belt is black..."No, i'm actually a green belt, I'm just colorblind..." Being colur blind is no excuse, get someone to point out green to you.

well you could plant one in the ground and grow a banana tree. -
I dont get the point about pads, why dont you use them. what has throwing or open hand techniques got to do with not using pads. A good pad man will spar with you. Not just hold them for you to hit. And when you thow stuff back he will stop it with the pads. Thats why pads are useful, you get to go full power. not only that but training in the air builds muscle differently. You have to train to slow the punhc or kick down at the end so as not to hyperextend your limbs. Not many people are aware of this but punching the air make syou arms strong but slow your punch at the end becuase the puscle is developed differently. When you hit the pad the muscle is never having to make the efffort to slow down, it grows slightly differently.

Why did you carry them down the street. Day out for the babanas or something? -
UPDATE: So i was at my dads yesterday and feeding the chickens. They stand there and peck the ground. This made me mad so i threatend them with the oven but they just looked at me like they dont understand what im saying. But i know they understand. I have a suspision they are trying to escape. I think they may be diggin a tunnel. You see the round blobs of dirt drop from there backsides. I think they are digging and putting the dirtn their featers there and droppping it from there backside in the hope i wont notice. I have taken who i suspect to be the ringleader in for interrogation but it just played dumb and stared at me. Im also convinced they are trying to learn to fly. I recently noticed their arms are shped like wings and saw one f them actually flapping. its all getting sinister and i dont like it. I dont like it one bit. next thing you know they will find some clever way to put chickens in those egg things they make and smuggle them out that way. I will keep you posted.

Excellent post Mokey Girl, but i think the sword turning into a sheild is vital here. And she takes the sheild from him. Think about it.

i think this is a void argument. Different systems have different ways. This is due to how the system developed. Its a bit like saying what your favourite color, yellow, then saying its dumb cos your favourite colour is green. by the way, yellow is the best colour. -

I agree with most of what you said but would add that Most karate was not desinged to fight with. It a disciple. Jui jitsu was broken up into Judo Aikido and Karate for western consumption. MT trains as hard as KK and probably harder. KK fighters beating MT is rare but does happen. I have alot of respect for KK but the MT guys win 99% of the time and thats the truth.
