  1. Yes but i dought you could throw a fast combination with your feet like you can with your hands. Also how useful are kicks in close rnage, i know i can punch in medium and close range, kicks get a bit tied up here. Kicks also arent so easy on uneven surfaces, they leave you less well balanced and can be hard to use in confined spaces. All worth bearing in mind i believe.
  2. that was a joke by the way
  3. lol bigbird is flapping
  4. Jiyn....you're a freak of nature.
  5. London
  6. I wouldnt worry about it. In fact i wouldnt worry about belts at all. if your instructor wants you to do it then ok. But i would question what the motivation is. Who cares what colour your belt is? Id be quite content to stay with a white belt forever. After all you are always learning. What will you do once you have a black belt, stop learning, will you know it all. Not critisizing just raising questions.
  7. It would be interesting to know how much MA training spec ops or even regular army units use. However i would guess they dont do loads probably less than we do. I expect most of their training involves guns and the like.
  8. I would personally mix Thai Boxing and Brazilian Jui Jitsu. I think Krav Maga does this well and shootfighting. Im personally not a fan of JKD, jack of all trades master of none. For the most part a Tahai boxer will beat them standing up and a Brazilian Jui Jitsu guy will beat them on the ground. Thats been my experience of whati have seen in the ring. So i would go with that. If you want weopons do Escrima or a similar style.
  9. youre joking right? How old is your little brother? i doubt if he is little that he can swing a pole anything like as hard as a round kick. How heavy is this pole? as heavy as a leg? If so i doubt he can swing it as fast using his arms? your were joking....werent you?
  10. Actually yes this is a good point that bigbird makes. Slowing it down can help remember youre supposed to be learning not getting smacked about. It will be usefull to have sparring just a little too fast for you, but only just. That way you will learn fast. Dont be afraisd to say "can we slow down"
  11. hummmmm...... not convinced
  12. Youre senai is right, its natural what you are doing and will change over time
  13. Block a round kick with your arm???????? Are you serious? Wont it get broken or at least injured, how do you do it i dont get it? most thai boxers can kick easily hard enough to seriously damage an arm that gets in the way. I dont understand how the arm can be solid enough against a much heavier limb coming at it. Please explain, i dont get it?
  14. Are they all allowed to compete agaisnt each other?
  15. Thats interesting i didnt know that. So does Karate have a definition any more or does it just refer to any Japanese martial art that was derived from one of the basic four systems?
  16. Hi im from a thai boxing background. Can someone explain to me why and how there are so many different systems of Karate. Do they all have the same base? It seems like a here a new one every month. Are new ones still being created? Im not being critical im just interested in evolution of martial arts and wonder what is the case with Karate.
  17. Personally i think the most important part you said was that you take it too seriously. I would change that round and say that maybe your nervous? Could this be true. Afraid of getting it wrong maybe feel under pressure because you have to it it a certain way AND get it right. From everything you have said this seems the answer to me.
