  2. Go for totally different styles. This way you get the best of both worlds.
  3. Sparring is so important that it isn't funny! It shows you how to execute moves with power and timing without injuring some or getting injured your self. Sparring also allows for you to home in on your skills.
  4. Tell them flat out. They will understand. It is the only way.

  6. If you want more power in your punches then I suggest training on a Makiwara board. tHey condition your hands and add power to your puches.
  7. That would be truly sweet.
  8. You have a very interesting family. I take Goju-Ryu and my sister wants to. My father is also interested in Yoga. :karate:

  13. That's horrible. There are too many examples of disrespect against martial arts today! It is a bad thing when a Sensei cheats you like that.
  14. That's horrible! People really work for a black belt. You should not be just awarded one out of the blue. It's disrespectful and outright wrong!
  15. Thank you. that was very interesting. Especially because I am about to start sparring.
  16. I am the mongoose. I move slowly and try to confuse my opponent and when they don't expect it I go for the Kill! (not literally)
  17. Interesting. I have never seen it.
  18. I think that you are definately right. Enviornment makes a difference.
  19. I'm sorruy that I have never heard of the form that ou speak of and that could be a bad thing. The other posts have made good points though and I think that ou should listen to them.
  20. On tv I have seen dim mak performed and i have seen it kill people It is very dangerous but it would be no use without a background art. If you are practicing it. Be Careful !
  21. Thank you I'm sure this tip will serve me well and I will do it justice while sparring.
  22. You're absoulutely right. Crosstraining is a must but you should at least obtain a black belt in the art that you take first. Or your crosstraining will have no effect because just the basics will mess you up.
  23. I am a part time instructor at my dojo and I teach the class with firmness or they will not pay attention. I will tell them that I am helping them. After class I will sometimes play a karate related game. My students give me respect and I teach them well.
