  1. Ah those elaborate names for techniques. I wonder where it is they came from.
  2. I also haven't but am interested in hearing about your experiences.
  3. Also well said
  4. Yes, and one day you get a certificate in the mail to confirm it.
  5. When I look up on Google about that style, and the name of your instructor, I get information about Jukido-Kai Sogo Budo instead.
  6. Nothing worth doing is truely easy, I don't think people are satisfied without a challenge.
  7. I've already made it a part of me, it would be difficult to make it any different. I'm with it for as long as I can move, and longer.
  8. Yes I think so, it could be a safety concern depending on how baddly tattered it was. It may also just make you look poorly, as well as some instructors can find it disrespectful.
  9. It is sad, but some people are still looking for the quick answers in life.
  10. We pay $30 per month, with a $30 yearly membership fee for ISKF. The first two weeks of training are free, though.
  11. I don't think I'd waste my time going for the "chest" as I feel it is not a viable target. The sternum, head, etc. are.
  12. Well I guess that really depends upon how fast you are, but you can do snap kicks to the head has well.
  13. I tend to agree a line should be drawn, because it isn't just about physical techniques, it must also be about the maturity of the individual. The knowledge and understanding of the style's philosophies should also be considered. It has to go beyond the child just repeating the words you give them; there must be understanding.
  14. We have one locally, yes.
  15. Something else I just thought of that may help; you may want to try making some personal connections with the material. The more you enjoy such material the more you may find you're remembering it.
  16. Well that's where it really gets subjective doesn't it? Yes there are a few situations where you can just tell, but for the most part you can't tell if someone is really going to attack you.
  17. If I had the cash, I'd go to the master camp alright.
  18. Could it be they don't want to take any ridicule that may come their way? It could be possible, there doesn't seem to be a lot of members of this board that practice XMA. But the moment we all begin ridiculing any one member, or groups of members, for what they practice then this board becomes meaningless.
  19. I second that motion!
  20. When we do our katas, each karateka is invited to stay and perform the same kata if they can follow along. If not, they perform any previous kata. This way, no one is left out of the kata training.
  21. I know there is a Black Rose Kenpo Association, but I don't know if any websites.
  22. Something that may help you out. Next time you're in class, have two staffs (or sticks, or brooms) held up by four of your friends. One placed just above each shoulder. Move forward and backward in back stance, and if you raise up, touching the wood, you must start all over. That will really help you stay low.
  23. Whenever I practice at home I always do it from the first to the most recent I've learned. It is a great workout.
  24. Ours are just over one weekend. But I've known some to be longer.
