  1. http://www.aftonbladet.se/atv/player.html?catID=10&clipID=629 thats a short clip of the fight, the other kid is really big too and looks unfit.
  2. dont alwasy try to set them up, look for their weaknessess also, like when you throw a jab sometimes your right hand drops and u can do the round kick to his right side then, also kick a couple of times to his mid section let him block the kicks, his hands might go down also when he raises his leg to block da kicks then the 3rd time bam!! also this ones really hard but it can work if youre fast enough cuz my trainer did it to me, i went in for a left jab and he kicked my left side of the head as my jab was startign to come back, so you pretty much gott aknow ur opponent a lil bit.
  3. you shoudl def try to find a school close to u even though its hard to, u should only use videos as a guide or to learn more things after u learn basicas form your trainers. but i guess it can be done if you allready have some experience.
  4. since ur in a right stance thank right leg in front, picture ur oponent is ina left stance and his left leg is in front, ok.....so, take ur right leg and step at almost 45 degrees. more like 35 deg to the right of u roponent, take ur left leg and follow the front leg the same way to that degree, and now kick, what this did is it opened up from where you are an now it will be a much harder kick becasue ur coming from an angle and not straight forward, so you have more room to kick and acelerate that kick which means more power, this only works if ur using ur front leg to kick, so either use this or do thw switch kick.
  5. Yes sir! u have been in this sport alot longer than i have so i guess u probably kno what ur tlaking aobut more than i do.
  6. good point, Sooner, as for not sidestepping i disagree, i think u should be taught that immediately at least i was, but he should becarefull not to get cut off by his low kicks, for example, if hes side sstepping to his right he might be comeing straight onto a low kick which is being set up by his opponent.
  7. try to evade his punches, sidestep mostly, also use alot of teeps(front kicks) to keep him away if hes the agressor, if he gets in too close n starts doing body puncher since hes also a boxer go in for the clinch, u also mentioned that he has a boxing stance, so his legs r probably bent which will b hard for him to pick up and block your kicks so definately take advantge of that and set him up wiht some simple punches and end with a low kick, if hes standing side way go for both of his legs and swwep him, of course dont go hard just make the point that thats what u would have done to him. but def try to stay away form his punches and use alot of teeps keep him away.
  8. thanks for the tips, does this make my leg stronger? by taking hits over time?
  9. Theres not bruising, when i first strated to train thats when it bruised up but now it just hurts, this happend a month ago also, and it hurt for aobut a week n it went away, now it happend again on tuesday and its friday so its getting a lil better, i can bend my leg, but still feel the pain when im on my toes.
  10. i took some pertty bad kicks to the leg the other night, i brought my leg up to block, but they went through, the guy outweighed me by about 80-90 pounds, but thats not the point. my problem is that the next day i couldnt bend that leg all the way back, not even 90 degrees, i felt like my muscle was gnna rip if i did so i just didnt trry to, it felt really tight also, so my question is would it rip if i did go all the way back with the leg? im talkin about the outise thigh muscle. Also whats a good way to treat it, should i rub it wiht ben gay or ice it?
  11. im only 125 - 130 and i sparr people with people over 200 pounds. This made me alot toughter, and im used to it now, i know what to expect, thats why wjhen i sparr somebody my own size its baby cakes for me haha, so it will definately be alot better for you to sparr somebody bigger than you, at the moment wen you sparr you will probably get hurt more than him becasue of the mass but just take the hits and keep going, thats what i did and it helpes.
  12. yea i can do them, i use the index finger and the thumb. juts line up your arm wiht your wrist so everything is in one line. buyt becarefull.
  13. for some reason, i really dont consider it a martial art, and thew reason why is because i trained in tkd for 4 yrs and i stopped it becasue it became boring to me and i ddint learn alot and i needed a hard core style, so i took up muay thai and i fell in love, now to me a martial art is having forms and doing like one step techniqques which i dont think are really effective on the street, muay thai to me is excellent, we make it reality, we dont try to block every punch that comers at us because w eknow it would b nearly impossible so i just dont liek to consider it a martial art. just my opiniopn
  14. O wow, i didint even realize that i posted this question, and now i just answereed it myself lol, how crazy is that, it means i have alot more knowledge now than i did when i started this thread in august of 04.
  15. its called mae mai the style on muaythai.com, which is the ancient art and not the modern art form of muay thai. Its more of a martial art.
  16. it might not be the right martial arts for you, i trained in tkd for 4 years and i started getting bored of it, i started muay thai and i fell inlove, this is somethign i can do day in and day out, i love it now.
  17. Try to find a thai store around you or in the next towns over, they should be selling muay thai tapes of fights form thailand and lumpini stadium n ch 7 fights, that how i get my fights.
  18. Theres really nothgin else to do but punch somehting, but instead of punching wood, punch a heavy bag without gloves but becarefull, you might sprain your wrist.
  19. You really shouldnt use anythign but gloves, wraps, mouth guard and a cup. When sparring dont go 100% just 50%, you should let your shins condition, its hard but better than getting used to shinpads, the only way i can imagine using a shinpad is if my shin is rerally damaged. As for headgear, oyu really shouldnt use that either, you wont get cut up and even when youwear headgear you can still get knocked out so there is really no need
  20. i love sparring the most but i also love hitting the Thai pads and focus mits
