  1. Also, many have connections to the Shaolin temple.
  2. I don't like unforms. Too formal.
  3. Ever notice that all the stories about the history of certain styles have things in common. They begin with the founder watching a fight between two animals. The founder then studies the movements of the victorious creature, creates a new style, and is instantly unbeatable. Or they are a good fighter and then have a fight with some "master" and lose. Then they're humbled and they beg the master to accept them as their student, and after several long years they're the master's best student.
  4. Does/Has anyone here trained in this style?
  5. Obviously you guys have never heard of Geoff Thompson's Animal Day sessions.
  6. What do you guys think, BJJ or Japanese JJ?
  7. How about we change the place to inside your car?
  8. In a competition fight, karateka would be taken to school by the Muay Thai guys, simply because the MT guys are trained to fight in the ring. On the street, karate's more brutal techniques would give it a great advantage over the MT guys.
  9. I've narrowed my choice to two, Comhrac Bas and Attackproof.
  10. I've read the book, and it's the most original and refreshing perspective of self protection I've seen. The drills are pretty wacky, but they will really boost your skills no matter what art you practise. I stronly reccommend it.
  11. Everyone has the right to post their opinion. Stop biting their heads off when they do.
  12. Thanks for all your replies guys. Keep em coming!
  13. The kata were means to record the fighting techniques and principles of its creator. You can base an entire curriculum around a kata.
  14. I think triangle stepping's probably right.
  15. That's interesting, but not what I was looking for. I mean like attacker throws a straight punch, you "triangulate" out and counter attack.
  16. Oops, sorry for the double response.
  17. I mean moving in a triangular way in response to your opponent's attack. Does this make sense?
  18. I mean moving in a triangular way in response to your opponent's attack. Does this make sense?
  19. Can anyone explain to me how this works?
  20. Any MA games?
  21. My personal ground strategy on the street would be: 1. GET UP! 2. GET UP! 3. If you can't get up, stike them a couple times, so they are dazed. Then stand up. 4. If you do grapple, only do it so you're in a position where you can stand up or strike them.
  22. Will do.
