  1. You can give this a try. http://www.soobahkinternational.org/
  2. O.k. amp, now I finally know what you're avatar is.
  3. Have you actually witnessed the classes in Korea? I thought the same way as you do, until my master came back from a Korean trip, and said they looked pathetic. So, don't let the stereotype of asian schools fool you. They've got their good and bad schools too.
  4. No requirements to stay after black belt promotion. They can take their belt, turn around, and walk right out the door if they want. I did see a lot more BB quiters when I was in a large school in Texas. But I have seen a couple up here as well. They usually fall into two groups. The ones that think that BB is the goal, and they can defend themselves once they have it around their waist, and the ones that consider BB the point at which they can switch to a different art for crosstraining purposes.
  5. Perhaps, but I'd much rather be where you are, considering your immigration laws. I wish we had them as strict as yours.
  6. I don't think you should assume they are linked just because the names are similar. I would be more concerned that he won't identify a price.
  7. Kenpo originally drew me to it with its fast powerful hand strikes.
  8. I'm closing this thread, as the there are two identical posts running.
  9. Welcome. And yes, we always want to hear what our new members are practicing.
  10. Welcome. Those two are a good combination.
  11. Welcome.
  12. I haven't seen tessone around in about a month. Probably tied up with school and training. I think he was a member of a club at his university as well. Any possibility you're actually practicing next to him and didn't know it? PM me your clubs info. I'm always interested in who teaching around the world.
  13. Oh stop. Welcome, welcome welcome. Actually, we have a couple more KSW practitioners, and one is closer than you think. ZR440 and tessone also practice this world wide (yet unknown) art. Which university are you attending?
  14. If you hadn't brought it up, I would have. Some have said we're in it for the oil. What about the "others" that don't want to be in it because they're already getting the oil, selling the weapons, selling the technology. As for isolationism, what would the world be like right now had the United States kept to ourselves in WWII? Also, how about listening to some Iraqis that live in free countries now. Listen to their stories of the daily atrocities being committed by Sadam and his sons. On a final note, it's interesting that we've already seen a number of weapons thrown at us that the Iraqi government claimed not to have, and that were banned from their possession by the UN 12 years ago. I found it very amusing to hear the Iraqi claims today that those missiles couldn't have come from them, because they don't have any of those.
  15. Very interesting. Amazing that such a specific style is available in a "small" town. To answer your question...I defer to someone that takes Aikido. However, I would think 10 yrs would be a good estimate to when you might start being able to use it properly.
  16. Amen.
  17. I agree with Kensai. Woh, did I say that. If you hadn't had the prior Judo, I might lean toward Kenpo. However, not only will Aikido build on your prior experience, it's soft style nature will allow you to continue training long into your old age. It is NOT, however, going to be as "effective" in the short term as it will be later on.
  18. "Broke bad"? I think you've been hangin' around your students too much. j\k
  19. I wasn't upset. I don't even practice TKD.
  20. Not just around here. You'll find that attitude all over the place.
  21. K.O.D., I think your getting a little off topic. Please feel free to start your own thread on fighting stats and starting your own style.
  22. My head hurts, and I'm not even competeing.
