  2. I have sparred against Tae kwon do martial artists of my own experience many times and I have anihilated them most of the time ... this hopping around marlarchy gets you nailed, also distance is a problem you dont like being close or punching but still when you get it wright WOW, by the way I`m only a first dan in shotokan.
  3. At the present moment a black belt can decide to open his new dojo without any prior experience. Is this a good thing ... No! I am aware of a course for instructors thought with diploma at the end. Where your now are of recognised ability to teach Karate. THIS IS WHAT ALL TEACHERS SHOULD HAVE.
  4. No way would this strike work on the body, you could hit someone all day in the solar -plexes and they wouldnt go down. It has to be a head or throat strike ... It could also be a what i call a "Bisep bump" to the side of the head, PAINFUL !
  5. Against any decent Karateka turning your back is a big mistake ... you will get nailed, Also when one lands after doing a jumping technique for an instanst your are vunerable.
  6. In many katas there is a series of moves following a knife hand blocks eg Kusanku were a pressing block is follows and then a sort of hand strike, Im told this is body level and whos apllication is not really Known, I personnally believe it is a visious strike to the troath and not to the side of the head or body ? ....
  7. It seems to me that training in tae kwon-do is hardly very advantageous to defending oneself. I am only a 1st Dan in Karate and have decided to train in a second martial art, when training there is little or no contact in sparring, I always said if you keep kicking the air you will get very good at kicking air and nothing else. The kicking tecniques are slow and easy to counter, finally when your compete in protective wear you dont respect the punishment you recieve, ie if you werent wearing protection you would not be so willing to do those risky techniques.
