  4. At least the rest stops now have plumbing. As late as the 70's truckers used to make jokes about the facilities in the rest stops in Ohio. Either go before you get here or hold it all the way through they would say.
  5. Very few know all 50 katas.
  6. On the punch. The kiai is usually on the movement when you reach the farthest move to the front of the room.
  7. Sounds like you need to see the doctor.
  8. Don't forget to do the pull-ups if you do body weight training. They help balance the upper body strength by working the opposing muscle groups to the push-ups.
  9. And for the record saying bo staff is like saying bo bo or staff staff. It is like using the same word twice in a row. The correct usage is to use only one word at a time.
  10. Pretty cool; but for the time being I will keep my SJ33.

  17. And improve your blocking. Also the sequence in tekki shodan where you convert a head block into a back fist is very useful in real sparring. Then when the back of your fist is in their face go for the solar plexus with the other hand.

  22. In my dojo there is no choice. We wear white. However when I train privately I have black gi pants that I wear. Had I the option I would wear a black gi for normal class wear.
  23. Retaining control return what you are getting. Not illegal strikes but legal ones. Not to throat or to the face but to the solar plexus or the ribs.
  24. Good point Fireka. At the time in history when the code of chivalry came into existance the world was a very rude place. Much of what became simple everyday politeness actually came from the code of chivalry as it trickled down from the upper nobility to the common people. (And we thought Reagans trickle down theory was a new idea!) In many ways in civilized areas I think civility has regressed and some areas are regressing into the rudeness of the past. Not a good thing. Chivalry or common politeness and manners? I think a general return to the descendent of chivalry would improve the world.
