Two weeks; that kid did get by with pulling something. I was eating most things normally within 3 days and they did all four of mine at once and then had to sew my gums up when they were done.
-
I did, they took all four of mine out at the same time early in 1976. You will look like a chimpmunk with swollen cheeks afterward.

Don't get one that will just meet the needs and uses you think you will have for it. When you start using one you find more and more things to do with it. I am drooling over the new Palm with the huge internal memory.

I just got into the Robert Jordan Series. And I reviewed an advance reader copy of a new book by Stephen R. Donaldson. Anyone remember The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant?

[quote="Jinxx0r I had heard that it only took him a year learn what he needed to test for cho dan. Do you know if this is true? I had read that all he did was train for that year. ouch. There are some US servicemen in Korea who do EARN a black belt in a year. They train hard 6 days a week under instructors with no frills or comforts. No a/c in summer no heat in winter. The training is hard and long. Not all who begin training last very long. I was in Korea and watched one of the local schools do some of thier warmups. They would line up by rank and run barefoot through the antenna field. -

There are many forms of meditation and many purposes for meditation. Traditional meditation postures include seated, kneeling, and supine postures and many variations of each. Postures used during meditation as well as the technique used to achieve a state of meditaion vary from culture to culture and religion to religion. There is no reason why meditation while lying down cannot be done. As a matter of fact there are places it is taught to people while they are laying down flat on their backs. And the rest of the discussion here that was removed was a pointless why back and forth between two posters that added nothing to the question raised in the thread.
-
There is no one right, or right for everyone position to use for meditation.

Just did some pruning of this thread. Now pay attention here children of all ages. 1. Display courtesy and respect to each other and all opinions at all times. It is possible to disagree without insults, profanity and a general display of your own ignorance. 2. All ages, styles and experience levels are welcome here. And are required to respect each other. What this means is if you are a young person it is every bit as rude for you to correct the spelling of and older poster as it is for them to put your opinions down. Everyone understand?

From what I have read; when Shimabuku put together the cirriculum for Isshin ryu he took the parts of the nihainchi katas that he like the most and combined them into one kata. Then he changed the direction the kata started it to differentiate it from all other niahinchi kata's done by other styles.

Neither Bruce Lee or Mushashi had to face the very real possiblility of encountering a gun in a street encounter with the frequency that such firearms are wielded today.

I am going to close this down now. Much of the discussion is just the same thing being said over and over again.

I have noticed a lot of threads on improving basic skills over time here on the forum. Basic skills are important and should be practiced regardless of rank. It takes time and lots of reptitions to learn them properly. More time and more repitions to develope the muscle strenght, flexibility and muscle memory to devlope skill with them. Then It takes continued practice to keep the skills sharp. Without a basic back kick one cannot to a spinning back kick. Without a basic front or side kick one cannot do jumping kicks or step over kicks. So talk about ways you practice your basic skills. Do you practice them routinely? If not why? How much of your practice do you devote to your basic skills?
-
Practice. You can also try pulling your toes up while you are chambering for the kick.

On another note White Warlock until recently the women in basic training did pushups on their knees. I know I was there.
