  1. Ah, well. At least I didn't bet on it. :0
  2. 1. heavy punches and kicks to the body and legs 2. light contact with the hands to the head but kicks to the head are usally heavy. 3. leg kicks 4. sweeps, throws and takedowns (when able) 5. clinching with knees but no elbows 6. standing locks and chokes ways to win 1. clean knockdown 2. partner turns back 3. partner gives up
  3. Rizzo and Ricco was a draw from what I was hearing. I was somehow able to listen to that fight. I knew Trigg didn't have it in him, but I wanted him to win. It was a good fight.
  4. Do you really think Rizzo will take Ricco? What did you think of Nog vs. Ricco? I think Ricco was robbed!
  5. The official line-up looks like this: Chris Ligouri vs. Keith Rockel Yves Edwards vs. Nick Aguilar Robbie Lawler vs. Chris Lytle Falaniko Vitale vs. Matt Lindland Phil Baroni vs. Evan Tanner Pedro Rizzo vs. Ricco Rodriguez Tank Abbott vs. Wesley Correira (everyone has a dream) Matt Hughes vs. Frank Trigg (I'm hoping Trigg wins to shake things up a bit, but I don't think he'll pull it off. It should be a better fight then Hughes vs. Sherk)
  6. No one here does cane as a weapon?
  7. log onto to winmx and type in kung fu. i down loaded him fighting a chinese wing chun guy and the chinese guy swept him and did a ground and pound UFC style. Good stuff, OSU!

  9. Anyone have first hand knowledge of this style? What kata do they teach? I'm interested in the weapons system.
  10. Rub in mineral oil, polish with 600-grain wet/dry polish sand paper once every two weeks. GM Shuey like to hang to dry but I was also told I could give it a wipe down with a towel and this helps to rid the cane of dirt and oil from the hands. Take a look at this link http://www.gojushorei.com/canes.htm it has pics of canes that are used in this system.

Is it important and what does it teach you? I was on another forum and almost everyone said it was usless. https://www.tungfu.com
  12. Any dojang in Canada?
  13. The one with sharks teeth is awesome...it adds to the S.D. aspect, using the side of the cane to rank the neck and eyes. I'm sticking with the cane. OSU!
  14. Can anyone tell me about the from know as monks cane?
  15. I just picked up the instructors cane and this thing is amazing. It is a heavy, dense wood. I was doing a partner drill with it and it didn't have a single mark on it. They also sell arnis sticks if anyone is looking for a pair.
  16. I liked the style. It was a very basic class on throwing but it was taught well. I also bought a cane masters cane and love it. Its very heavy, hard wood. I should be going back down to train soon.
  17. Karate now means 'empty hand' but did mean Tang/China hand at one time. I believe weapons are apart of our art. OSU!
  18. I picked staff because you didn't have jo.
  19. At the same time, is the bunkai found in these kata the way in which you would fight? If it isn't then why not 50 kata. Kata, even if you do not understand bunkai can still teach breathing, focus and footwork...
  20. I notice many on this forum know a ton of kata. Is it better to know a lot of kata in a general way or a few very well with all the bunkai?
  21. kihon kata heian 1-5 tekki 1-3 bassai hangetsu sanchin Jitte wanshu ananku rohai kusanku
  22. We are having a cane sem with one of the cane masters black belts. It should be fun...
  23. http://www.wingchunkwoon.com/ Sifu Phillip Redmond site. He is a very nice man and I've heard he is very good. He is starting a kwoon in my area.
  24. I'm going to try a hapkido class this Friday night. I have a judo and karate background and was invited out to a throwing class. What type of throws are done in hapkido? Are they most wrist lock throws? I'm used to bomb'in folks with full shoulder or hip throws, can these be found in hapkido?
