  1. I've done everything i could find though... Except Tae Kwon Do... I never had much love for it, but now i'm wanting to try it because i like the thrill of jumping and twisting with a massive spinning kick. you didn't get enough of that in wushu? i guess to actually answer the question, i might be a forms collector?... maybe...? y'know, i don't pick and choose the techniques per say, i try to learn as much of each style as i can. so... yeah. this is a good question though. i might call myself a dualist, too, except i practice 3 styles
  2. actually, it was the width of your thumb, hence the term, "rule of thumb". and, in all fairness, the police will hold a different view of a 40 year old man who's been around here all his life with a pen knife than the punky looking young teenage boy with nunchaku in his seat, ya know? you can't really blame him. stats say i'm dangerous, it's probably safer for the police.
  3. north where? like, WI north? cuz we're supposed to be pretty north, and i know we don't have a choice. it's extendable batons, and... that's it. they used to be able to decide between revolvers and semi automatic hand guns here in verona, but... they don't even have that any more.
  4. ...indeed... i think maybe that a forms collector is "i want to learn wing chun, xing yi, tae kwon do, capoeira, kali, and eagle claw because i like them" where as an MMA would be more "i need to learn kicks so i'm going to goto muay thai and train them, but then discard some stuff and maybe add some stuff from tae kwon do, but i need grappling too so i'm going to do a little BJJ, with some aikido principles, and i need to punch so i'm going to do boxing with a little shotokan". you know, less "my punches are wing chun, my kicks are TKD, my grappling is judo", more "this is how i kick, this is how i punch, this is how i lock, this is how i throw", etc... does that make any sense? that's the first i've heard those terms too and i'm intrigued as well... i'm not so sure what i think, i guess...?
  5. yeah, who has time to worry about ninjas and samurais when you have storm troopers to worry about?
  6. ...except they're illegal in most places, aren't they? even though they're not technically illegal in WI cuz they don't have a blade, i still got a heavy warning for not having them in a carrying case. i got in a bit of trouble, because a policeman saw them on the seat of my car when i was in a parking lot, and my bag with the rest of my gear was in the trunk... he weren't to happy about that. it took a bit of explaining that indeed, i was on my way to the dojang. so yeah, even in places where they're essentially legal, carrying them around is still pretty sketchy. then again, no one seems to care when people walk around with knives... maybe the policeman was just having a bad day...
  7. "Heh heh, if I ever have a guy from Wisconsin come up to me and ask me about my tattoos then I'll know it's you! " ach; then i'll be ready for the punch then, eh? and, to add to the margaritas, we have you on food, too. i swear brit food was made on a dare...
  8. you can play the radio!?! i keep trying, but it always sounds like crap...
  9. actually, i think i read somewhere that there really is a pai mei, and that he's generally considered a traitor and portrayed as a villain in kung fu movies.
  10. well, you know, if you're gonna' be sensible about it... not me, though, i'm an english major!
  11. i was just kind of assuming. i have no experience with the sai i just figured since they're shorter, you could move them quicker and move more naturally. but to tell you the truth, i don't even know that i've ever even held a sai before. so i'll take your word for it
  12. I've got no ink, and no jewery either. well, you're not supposed to talk about yours if i were, say, in england for some reason and decided to hit on aefibird, i'd look at her kanji tattoo and say "hey, i like your tattoo, what does that mean?" or "hey, i dig that, is there a story behind that?" or something to that end. because people can drone on about their ink for hours. i really can't explain it. or jewlery, or clothing. if all else fails, a "hello" generally does the trick. and i disagree whole heartedly with delta 1. as far as i've seen, university has absolutely no purpose outside of picking up members of the opposite sex oh, and bookstores are a wonderful thing. at any given time you can find a whole gaggle of attractive young women looking for intelligent conversation. y'know, just FYI
  13. just say hi. there's always someone who's as lonely as you are, and it's not like everyone there is inherently evil. i find it works best to talk about clothing or jewlery, or if it applies, tattoos. people always like to talk about their stuff, espcially their ink.
  14. anything and everything percussion. marimba, timpani, snare drum, trap set, djembe, cymbals, jawbones, you name it, i hit it sometimes even in time!
  15. heihatchi is mostly nice because of the ungodly strength he has with tekken... if you haven't unlocked that yet... same with maxi and the vajira.
  16. actually, if they were two beginners, i think i'd favor the sai, since it's easier to apply them to your empty hand techniques. just a thought.
  17. i think he's trying to tell us something...
  18. kinda' like how if you, say, take a really flexible person who'll only kick below waist level... he's still flexible, he's just not kicking you in the head.... i guess....
  19. well, bearing in mind i have no experience with the 3 section staff what so ever, i'm going to assume that, even if most of the strikes don't revolve on its flexibility, it's still a flexible weapon. y'know, it can if it wants to.
  20. from what i've seen, 3 section staffs are generally clumped into the flexible weapons category
  21. i gotta' say, although he's not especially attractive, frank sinatra is the ultimate mac daddy. also, brandon boyd is pretty damn attractive, too.
  22. choy li fut uses them i know. i really dig the hook swords too, but i dunno how to use them. i'd really like to learn how, though. there's another thing to add to the list...
  23. great, something to look forward to, then.
  24. well... we're getting really off topic i think, but... i really dig the tenchu series as a whole. but i've always been a fan of the stealth genre. soul calibur 2 is good, kilik, mitsurugi, and xianghua are my main fighters. i'm a bigger tekken fan, though.
