see, the trouble with anime is it's just so expensive, and there's no where around here i've found yet where you can really rent much of it, except DBZ, so if i buy it and end up not liking it... that's $25 or so down the drain, which is never a nice feeling. i've been waiting for a ranma/trigun owning buddy to come along... spriggan too. oh, and el hazard was another anime series i really got into.

kicks to the face now allowed in WTF
battousai16 replied to dear john's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
kicks to the spots the head gear is covering is allowed. he's saying now the face is an open target, which before was a big no-no on account of the fact that.... well, it's the face. i can't imagine that to be true, but if it is, i can only figure it's because they're tired of being called the panzy style -
Drunken boxing
battousai16 replied to Gilbert's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
i knew he's also had private instruction in wing chun as well. but i also know that he dosen't consider himself a martial artist, rather a stunt man. so there you have it. -
i used to really dig Dragonball Z, but i really fell out of my fun sometime towards the end of the buu saga. and i just couldn't stomach GT. i always meant to check out trigun and ranma... never got around to it...

Drunken boxing
battousai16 replied to Gilbert's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
well, he said in an interview that he pretty much made up his own stuff for the movies. that, and he's not an instructor. he said in another interview that he'd like to be, but just dosen't have the time. -
Defending yourself with a knife!?
battousai16 replied to GhostFighter's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
y'know, as i've been taught it, though what SS says is true, the knife really isn't a stabbing weapon, it's a cutting weapon. you shoot for arteries and veins and the like. that femural arterie in particular. if you pull a knife out, you're not really trying to take them down non-violently. -
well, IMHO, the first blade really sucked, but in a fun way. the second one sucked in a painful way. i can't imagine 3 being anything other than crap; i'm hoping with my expectations so low it might be enjoyable, which seems to be the trend with sequels these days. "first, we had a vampire hunter who was supposed to be really bad, and he had his moments, i guess. then, we have blade against a bunch of kung fu fighting vampires with a team of other kung fu fighting vampires, and they'll duke it out, and people will run away from light that they've managed to harness in grenade form that they never really care to explain about. and tarnish donnie yen's name while we're at it! next we'll pair him out with two young teenagers and see where that leads..." i can't see good things in store... and um... they're always against the ultimate vampire that was perfect and couldn't be stopped.... the stories really starting to wear a bit thin... but now that i look at this, i'm looking a bit to much into it. it's been one of those nights.

Defending yourself against guns from a distance?
battousai16 replied to a topic in Martial Arts Weapons
"Or, if you're really lucky, you'll have the once-in-an-infinite chance that the atoms of the bullet will line up perfectly with your own, and it will pass through you without any harm. Then, you'll look like a super-dude or something. " oh my god, how sweet would that be!?! especially if it happened to monkeygirl and her weird joint thing... y'know, they'd shoot her, and she'd crack her neck... "...yeah...now what, punk?" oh, yeah, not that it would ever happen. as i understand it, the atoms of the bullet would more than likely be set so tightly together (because as i recall metals tend to bond together through a mass sharing of electrons) that you'd be hard pressed to get it straight through. and it's not like your own atoms are arranged in parallel lines. so... it's less one in infinite and more... never. but i was never a physics guru -
gotta say seven, i'm a little bit surprised about the kenshin myself "um, anyway. have any of you seen 'ebichu the housekeeping hamster'? " i'm working on it, i swear i am. as soon as i find a computer that will play them, cuz god knows my compy hates me. and the library computers have it blocked off. aside from that, i really like GTO (the anime and the manga, though the anime cut so much great stuff out. the mass arm wrestling tournament in issue ...15 i think? brilliant )! i also got into sorcerer hunters/spell wars awhile back. oh, and lupin the 3rd.

i'm hesitant to give it a solid GF ranking right now, but i think it definitely could be. if only the zombies broke out in a massive kung fu brawl... if only...

Knocking cup from young child's mouth with Nanchaku
battousai16 replied to Kicks's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
"Did I just say chucks? " i have to admit, i was a bit taken aback when i read that. had to do a double take to make sure it was you... -
whoop, there's pressure, and here i thought i was gonna' take my time... ah well, as long as i'm speedy, i'll be able to push cheeky musician to class... y'know...as long as i'm in the neighborhood... and i just went out and watched SOTD again. i don't generally see movies in the theater twice, but it was just that good. i really dig it. and while i was there, i walked into hero. y'all should see that, too. the first time i saw kung pow, i really hated it. but i really wasn't in the mood, and i watched it a second time with some buddies, and it got a few more cheap laughs out of me. it had to work its way up to my liking

i dunno, the kenshin/jinai battle was particularly awsome... the rest of it was lack luster, though. i was pretty dissapointed with the 3 seconds aoshi and saito combined got in screen time. still, it concluded the series nicely... y'know, for someone who never read the manga.
-
i'd argue that kung pow: enter the fist makes less fun of martial arts and more fun of martial arts movies.
-
awwww... y'know they'll welcome ya back. y'know, i assume. you'll have a blast, i'm sure. just go. you know you want to
-
well thank you kindly. and go to class, god sarn it! what are you waiting for? go! now!
-
that would be great, if you'd happily send one to battousai_wannabe16@hotmail.com, i'd be much obliged. and welcome back cheeky, it's certainly been awhile
-
ach; welcome back fellow wisconsinite

Indeed I must... i'll start walking now, expect me in 3-6 years. i just saw shaun of the dead on friday. what a brilliant movie. you should all go see it right now. absolutely hilarious.

i thought that was just a nic name for what your'e getting. y'know, cuz it's really thin and light, and will probably snap if you hit anyone with it. i have one myself, though, from when i was wee, and it hasn't warped yet, and its held up pretty well. even survived a house fire. so it's great for what it is.
