actually yes, but i assume that that's because of the writing prowess i like to think i have.

i heard his new single, i think it's called "lose it"... my god, i can't stand it... i had the leave the building it was being played in... but that's just me. to each his own.
-
actually, my instructor can do that...

leg raisers, hip looseners, and splits AFTER work outs. if you do them before, you lose some leg control. don't forget the kicking mechanics, and don't forget that you're kicking in front of your pelvis... if that makes sense... y'know, side kick and back kick your leg kicks behind the pelvis, this one you're kicking more forward and across... if that makes sense? that helps get the leg up and your body up there; cuz if you bring it straight up your joints meet together and lock up.

Capoeira : MA or Dance?
battousai16 replied to MenteReligieuse's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
i'm gonna' steal DM's plug and advise you to check out some of zero gravity's videos.... they're amazing. if you check out lateef crowder's demo video... my god... but yeah, what they show isn't always what it is. i hear that the non-dancey capoeira is actually pretty effective... and brutal. i'd love to learn it, as it looks like great fun, but the local place charges $140 a month! -
all these heroic stories aside: i remember walking down a street known for it's...ahem, characters late at night one evening. the street wasn't deserted, but it wasn't exactly bustling with people either, and there was a woman walking down the other side of the street. all the sudden someone reached out from the dark and grabbed her, and she started screaming. no one standing there did anything as she was screaming and swatting at him and he was pulling her around a building. so i started across the street, wondering what the hell i was gonna' do, and... he looked, let go, and ran. sometimes all it takes is the threat of action, because a lot of these guys are scared. good thing i did something, too, cuz she ended up being my english teacher the next year

Famous People's MA's styles.
battousai16 replied to username9's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
jason statham had formal MA training at some point or other, which allowed him to do most all of his own stunts in the transporter. i'm not sure what that training is, but i would guess TKD. i dunno, i'm not really a fan, but it's what i heard. -
cardio for 30 minutes - how on earth ...
battousai16 replied to Exponential's topic in Health and Fitness
yeah, unless you have a condition, there's no reason why you can't run 30 minutes. just take it slower if you can't make it at first, there's nothing wrong with starting slow. just remember to pick up the pace as you go. -
bodywieght exercises then stretch or vice versa?
battousai16 replied to Exponential's topic in Health and Fitness
i always did both, personally. more importantly then "when" or "how often" is "am i doing them correctly"? be sure of that, first. -
cardio for 30 minutes - how on earth ...
battousai16 replied to Exponential's topic in Health and Fitness
well, personally, i'd just make the run longer. y'know, slow it down. generally the reason people can't go any longer is because something starts to hurt and they don't tough it out and just stop. make sure you're running with good form, and, well, tough it out. i've also become fond of jumping rope in recent days. and, i'm not sure what style you do or if they have forms or not, but if you have a few of them try working those out, one after the other, or the same one a few times. it can get a bit tiring after awhile. -
Good Martial Arts animes?
battousai16 replied to Jbone1's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
ah, see, there's the trouble. anime is ridiculously expensive; i've always gotten mine from other people, with one or two exceptions. i've spent more than anyone probably should, and i only have one or two dvds. i mean, $25 a pop... geez. at any rate, VCDs seem to be the answer, but they don't play on all dvd players. -
what is the the diff between straight and tapered Bos?
battousai16 replied to username4's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
i have a few of both. it dosen't hurt to train both of 'em. though i personally prefer straight -
yeah, i bring it all the way back.

i've always been a fan of jab, punch, roundhouse, roundhouse... y'know, with the same leg. i would advise, however, that you stay away from hook kicks. it's a good way to mess up your knee.

47mm, your really missing the point. yes he has the right to complain, even though he didn't vote, and i accept that... but i accept that because he couldn't vote. when the next election rolls around and complains even if he didn't vote, then i'll roll my eyes.

japanese pop music. y'know, a lot of synthesizers and high, squeally voices that reach octaves that you can't imagine... generally used in the theme songs of anime. i guess people actually listen to it too, i don't know.
-
no, but every now and then you'll get one with a knot in it or something. it happens. generally they'll replace it if that happens.
-
ha! i personally have yet to come across such a thing. though i am awfully curious about canto-pop, now...
-
one of the older folks would probably be better suited to answer this, but i don't think we can do that. here if more than one candidate is marked off, i think it just dosen't count it. i didn't see a "no vote", and can't say i've ever heard of one; i'd like to think i didn't walk about so ignorant as to just not notice it. that said, i'm a firm believer in the "if you didn't vote, don't complain" philosophy... if you have the ability, yes, i figure people just assumed that last part. i mean, sure, the non-voters can complain, but they should probably be complaining about not voting as adversed to the candidate in question. but i voted, so i can complain all i want

^pretty much^ if you want your sword to have a heavenly aura around it at all times, take iaido, and they'll show you ever little damn thing that you could possibly think of, and a few you never would, to keep your sword pristine through almost painful tradition. right down to keeping that chord thingy on the handle tied properly. needless to say, i never took it, else i'd know the name for that chord thingy just don't do anything mind bogglingly stupid with your sword, and it should be just fine. i've never done an all out cleaning for mine, and i've had no problems with it.

well, with a republican dominated house, it wont be the fully ideal set of checks and balances.

oh no, don't get me wrong, i'm not a nader supporder, and i'm not complaining he about his not getting a full percent. i laughed, myself. but think about it. bush and kerry spent a billion dollars on advertising alone. that dosen't include rallys and other events. what did nader or badnarik get? the whole system is set up for a democratic candidate and a republican one, with very little breathing room inbetween.... or on the outsides, as it were. NOT DEBATING, JUST SHARING FACTS AS I KNOW THEM! i've already been slapped on the wrist a few times for that
