  1. well, but then he goes on for 3 more threads correcting him self. though, i see your dillema i'm gonna' throw out kill bill btw rotten head fok, i know this is a wee bit off topic, but kung fu magazine just had 2 pretty large articles on choy li fut. interesting style indeed, and looks awfully pretty. i'm a bit envious
  2. hey rotten, a lot of those are HK movies. those don't count
  3. i gotta' say, you guys have a much neater history than we do. at least yours is legitimately traceable...
  4. well, to quote the great philosopher obi wan kenobi, "you must do what you feel is right, of course". and you know your situation far better than i do. but i still hold you have to at least try the ending before you just declare that it wont work. y'know, again, i guess. maybe not. i can say that i was more or less in the same situation, only in reverse. she told me she still liked me and what not, and we're still good buddies. i saw her last night. then again, you could play that "you're only 18" card... at any rate, it's always good that you're at least friends, eh? i guess only you know what's best.
  5. right on, monkey girl. time heals all wounds, i suppose. how are things going with your lady friend, DM? not that it's any of my buisness, i suppose...
  6. i didn't get to go ahead on in today; there was to much commotion with my sister moving out and what not. i called and the guy says it's Pien San Wing Chun, and that the guy (he told me to call him Ben, but i suppose that would change if i were to train under him. or would it? my tai chi guy is still Terry...) at any rate, he says he trained under Austin Goh and Juerg Ziegler. does this mean anything to anyone?
  7. i know here in WI nunchaku are frowned upon, but generally ok. it's preffered they be in a special carrying case. it's far easier to get away with a knife, actually.
  8. well, DM, unless you REALLY want to point out all the holes in his story, i suggest this thread get back on its already feeble topic, or just close it all together. to answer the original question, no, i wouldn't try to permanently incapacitate someone after subduing him./her. best to maintain some level of control.
  9. i'm the first. in fact, my parents were pretty against it in the beginning, my father having this "there's nothing they'll teach you that a couple of days in the school yard can't" attitude. i had to get a few beatings from the 5th grade girls before he'd let me go. i've had a few cousins do some casual mcdojo training, but they drifted out around green-ish belt. i have a second cousin who's a yellow belt in tae kwon do, but he broke his arm and dosen't know if he wants to jump back in it. he's kind of scared he'll brake his arm again.
  10. ^we did an "all encompassing self defense" unit in a gym class once^. it was absolutely worthless. the watering down thing became problematic, and most people thought it was enough to just go through the motions. it really just gave enough confidence to jump into a confrontation and lose. however, it was kind of nice being looked at as "the unit guru", especially considering how much i blow at all the other sports that said, i think i'm pretty well against it. maybe if a teacher held it as like an after school club or something, as that's more independant and will be less likely to raise the aforementioned political issues.
  11. ...sore in a good way, right? not like, sore because they'll all be punching me in the shoulders for being a korean stylist with quite a bit of flashy, worthless, innefficient moves...?
  12. hey cool, another wisconsinite! i've checked out most of the kwoons and dojos and dojangs and what have you in the madison area, so if your anywhere near me (verona, right outside of madison), feel free to PM me; i'd be happy to tell you what i found. else, best of luck to you
  13. i'm looking forward to it i think i'm gonna' check out the local wing chun place on saturday. we'll see how that goes.
  14. was it a biker? i thought it was his body guard. though we could be talking about different instances.
  15. i'd really have to argue that it's not historically accurate. personally, i really dig the story to once upon a time in china. and the prisoner.
  16. what do you mean jackie chan dosen't do well in dramatic roles? i thought he was great in the one movie where sammo hung plays the autistic man. can't think of the title...
  17. y'know, i wouldn't have thought so at 15 either, but my family's having a bit of a crisis right now, and i've recently realized how important they are to me. be sure to make a bit of time for them; i wish i'd spent a bit more.
  18. ^good lord...^ to that end, just about any uniform in the century catalogue... gah!
  19. 1) either one. though more often than no i use the link at the top. 2) i, like ramymensa, view my own posts and than go down top to bottom.
  20. hmmmm... after careful consideration, i'd have to say i'd really like to see a well done fight scene to "particle man" by they might be giants if someone could time it out to that accordion solo...
  21. ^agreed^. i've been looking for a new school, since mine has just become way to expensive, and i heard about a wing chun place near me. i've been thinking about stopping in... i hear its biggest disadvantage is that it's really repetitive and a pain to learn?
  22. i agree with lucky boxer, 3 isn't to much until you try to fit in a job, religion, TIME WITH YOUR FAMILY, a social life, etc. if you can fit that around the rest of your schedule, it seems to be all well and good. and, IMO, escrima is to great of fun to just drop for wrestling, as radok suggested
  23. i dunno, i can take yu-gi-oh more than i can take the wiggles. they just creep me out. different age group though, i guess.
