psh, what are you talking about aefi bird? i'm absolutely perfect in every way (like mary poppins!) i've never made a mistake in my life! certainly never one similar to Kamiya's...

heh heh. after almost 11 relatively injury free years in the martial arts, i got dropped on my head and hurt my neck (my fault, i, in theorey, should have rolled over it. have to practice my falling, i guess). then i hurt my knee doing low spins, getting some sort of whiplash in it or something or other. then, while sparring 3 other people, i got a side kick to the spine and my back's been aching for awhile. all in the same week! gah.

"(Where's the utterly embarrassed, cringe-worthy, Oh my god I can't believe I admitted that smilie when you need it?)" you mean this one " "?

i haven't read that one, but i read parts of another one of his books out of curiousity (i think it was called something to the effect of "foley is good and the real world is faker than wrestling"). it was filled with non-sensical rants and "reasons why i'm so great" kinda stuff. then again, i've never been a pro wrestling fan, so the book probably wasn't directed towards me. -
heh heh. we tried to bring the ninja turtles back with a remake of the cartoon, but to no avail. it's not very good and has yet to catch on. what did a little better was our he-man remake now THERE was a gem from the 80's

actually, me and some of the people at my dojang traced the very downfall of society to saturday morning cartoons. GI Joe always had that special message at the end, as did the ninja turtles. now you have that pokemon stuff where a bunch of little fuzzy things shoot weird things and what not. kids today. we need school house rock back! that'll fix us...
-
psh; what are you talking about? it was ACTUALLY all about the ninja turtles, ghostbusters, police academy, and the karate kid. oh, and top gun. and patrick swayzee. all of my toys were related to to the aforementioned titles. well, titles and name. and slap wraps. i had plenty o' those. i still have one or two lying around

Odysseus, a mullet is a hair style where the front of the hair is short and the back is long. y'know, "buisness up front, party in the back". they were fairly popular in the 80's, another reason i'm glad they're over. geh, mullets, tiny shorts, neon colors, big scrunchies, and nothing but synthesizers!

copenhagen was written by michael frayn. y'know, just fyi. i think the only book on your list and had read that i dug was the life of pi. that was kind of a neat one. copenhagen wasn't the worst book i've ever read, either. aefibird, i hear ya! my teachers turned me off of poetry in general! it was all well and good 'til we were forced to analyze every single word! which didn't get horribly pathetic until we had to analyze a poem about how people analyze poems to much and should just sit back and enjoy them. gah, i forget what the poem was called, but i think it was the first in the poetry 180 series.... i think... i forget. i really enjoyed the davinci code, but didn't think it as good as the rest of the nation. i hear angels and demons is better, but i haven't gotten around to it. -

my cousin stayed over here for a little while. he lives in thailand. i woke up early one morning to go to tai chi and went into the yard to discover him kicking my tree. a big birch tree. with his shin. personally, i think he's nuts. and his shins look all weird. but he lets me wail on his shins, and, although he could very well be feeling it, he just laughs at me, and then kicks me in the shin, and then laughs at me as i get all angry and what not bah, he's nuts though, i wouldn't recomend it. -

y'know, i really didn't care for death of a salesman, but i guess it's just me. what else do you have to read? -
actually, i think his whole point was that the reverse is true.
-
not being a car guy, i have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
-
^true, but when you're just working your overhead strikes, it's an excuse to work your horse stance^

well, you know, we ARE a nation outside of texas. i think most of us actually buy foreign cars, in recognition that our own are poo. i really don't know that many people who own buy ford, and the ones that do are all truck owners, which, as i understand, still suck. the key point you touched on is that we don't complain. we've known for awhile that ford was intentionally putting out inferior products knowing the chances of there breaking down in 3 years, knowing they'd come back to ford. but no one ever did anything. i'd also like to point out that we're only patriotic on independance day and whenever there's a big disaster. and not a natural disaster, it MUST be an attack from another country, or a lack of support but now i'm making this thread political, and patrick alreay yelled at me for that

"and we're not all money grabbing greedy sons of beeeeeetches." "...well, you must remember that we sell GOOD cars in the uk so they're not easy to tip over. " well, someones awfully bitter tonight...
-
not to mention they're so easy to tip over, and everyone behind the wheele feel invincible. bah!

Looking for some good advice

you should try talking to the instructor. i initially couldn't afford to train where i am now, but my instructor and i had a talk and we worked something out. i've found that more often than not in exchange for cleaning up a bit, watering plants and doing other odd jobs, most instructors will slack up on fees. my old ones did that, too. -
well, the big SUV's annoy the heck outta' me, too. i dunno about you guys in the UK, or even in the rest of the US, but they're all over Verona, WI, population of just over 8,000. we're in a city. at not time is anyone in danger of high-centering on the exposed root of a banyan tree, no one goes careening off the high way to go tag wildebeests, and you really don't need the 30 inch tire clearance to get over the speed bumps at the west town mall everyone just drives to the local starbucks, drink weird forms of coffee, and compare whose is bigger, whose head rest warms fastest, whose pollutes more, whose waists natural resources more, etc. i've actually had a few stickers printed that say "i don't need an ecosystem, i have an air conditioner!" to slap on 'em, but i just can't do it. blasted martial arts teaching me to respect others and their possessions... bah!
-
y'know, some people have parents who don't let them train at all, whether it be money issues or safety issues or health issues. and eye injury nearly kept me out for life, and money issues nearly forced me into quitting my current school. the point being be thankful for what you have. tang soo do is not a bad style, go into it with an open (and at the risk of sounding to philiophical, "empty") mind, and i'm sure you'll find you'll enjoy it.

i have a friend who's an irish dancer, and she also needed mirrors in her basement so she could practice (she's wicked good, btw). so instead of getting a few large mirrors, she got several smaller ones. they aren't the nicest things around so they didn't cost that much, and they were much easier to obtain and move around. something to consider?

has anyone said amelie? i'll toss that out there.
