Who wants to be an MA news writer?
Patrick replied to Patrick's topic in KarateForums.com Announcements
Hey, that is a good idea, Kicker. If we had one person take on a day (or maybe 2 per day, depending on the popularity of it), that would work great. If we had one person assigned to each day, it would guarentee a bunch of articles, because then there will be the editorials and other articles that are submitted as well. So, we'll have more than 7 pieces a week. I'd have no problem launching the articles section now, if we could get a person each day. Good idea, Kicker. -
Basically, you would find news, for instance: http://news.google.com/news?q=Martial+Arts&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&scoring=d Tons of stuff. New stuff every day. You would then make your own write up about the news, as we cannot copy other news sources (of course). This would have to be at least 400 words (short). I plan to launch the articles section soon and if we had one person submit one news article every day (once its launched), we'd be doing great. It doesn't take that long to write a news article, as you probably know. At least 400 words (more if you can), use Google news to find the latest MA news, choose something, write and submit. I just wanted to get this idea out there, because if people are willing to do this, we can launch the Articles section sooner (and not wait for the 10-12 articles I had initally called for).

Patrick replied to LeaF's topic in KarateForums.com Announcements
Just a couple more days left. Get those votes in. -
I don't have a cell phone either or a phone actually (besides the one family one). And I have a computer that doesn't work very well so I am on the laptop, which works a lot better. My parents are going to buy a new computer soon though. Maybe one day though.

2002 KarateForums.com Awards Voting - Vote Now!
Patrick replied to LeaF's topic in KarateForums.com Announcements
Ok, guys... we are over half way through. If you haven't voted, better get them in. By the way: Congratulations to all of our nominees. Being a nominee is an honor in itself and one worthy of commendation. -
Can't afford it.
-
I just wanted to make it clear to those people that nominated, that it doesn't count as a vote and that you now must go vote. The nomination process was to decide who would be on the ballot, and now it is time to vote. I also hope that all of you US based citizens are out there and taking advantage of your right to vote on election day. Thanks.

I am against it being legalized. Some people like to say that "Hey, alcohol is legalized, why shouldn't my marijuana be?" That has to be the DUMBEST argument. Just because we have one intoxicant that is legal and has been forever, doesn't mean we need another! Bill O'Reilly said that he would legalize it, and would govern it very toughly. He said that he doesn't care what you do in your house, you can get high as much as you want. But, the moment that you step out in a public place (in a car, etc.), and they catch you, big fine. That would be a good way if it was indeed, legalized. (And tax it. Use the money). But, I don't want it legalized.

Who wants to write for KarateForums.com?
Patrick replied to Patrick's topic in KarateForums.com Announcements
The one at the top of the forums? Red button? That isn't a link right now. You need to go to the article forum and then reread the article posting guidelines when you get a chance. Thanks for writing. -

I have 2 things to say. 1. Please do not tell us not to move something. We will move it to the forum that we feel it best fits. 2. This topic has been discussed to death, so I am going to close this one. Thanks for posting. -
I was hoping for the Giants, oh well.

I am proud to announce the KarateForums.com Article Writing Contest, which will help to jump start the database of articles for our soon to launch Articles section. Basically, we will be giving away one official KarateForums.com logoed mousepad to the winner. I know that this may not mean much to some of you, but it is a neat prize none the less. Here is what you will be judged on: - Quality of your articles - Number of articles - Originality (are we the first site to have it?) And the person who ranks the best in all three in my opinion and will the prize. Any user can win. No matter where you are on the globe - if you win, you win the prize. The only people that are excluded are me and the Senseis (Deby, Jack and Sai). Please review these threads: http://www.karateforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4831 http://www.karateforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4876 This contest will be for all articles submitted to the database before December 1, 2002. So, get out there and start writing and when you are done with a column, submit it in the Articles forum. Please be sure to read the links that I gave above.
