  1. Hey Bob, I appreciate that you trust the community enough to share this with us. This is terrible news, and am sending positive vibes your way that you will beat this as quickly and painlessly as possible. Beyond that, I hope that you see the community as a supportive force in your life and here to provide a boost in this fight whenever we can. Patrick

  11. And we've now finished it. Same feelings as above, really enjoyed it.
  12. Hey all, When I was a kid, I collected cards. And when I reached a certain age, I stopped. But I still have all of my cards, all in great or pretty good condition, plus the cards my Dad gave me. Recently, I got the urge to get back into it and have been buying cards when I can find good deals (have to be careful not to get too deep, haha). Picked up a bunch of 1970s and 80s hockey cards (never really collected hockey, but getting into it a bit now), plus some baseball ranging from the 1950s through the early 1990s. It's been fun to revisit something I loved so much, and I'm enjoying being back in it and discovering new cards. Anyone else find themselves back into this hobby? Patrick
  13. Bob's thread about ESPN's Bruce Lee doc made me want to start a thread about The Last Dance, another ESPN doc series about the Michael Jordan-led Bulls. We're 6 episodes in, and it's great. Really amazing how many people they got to sit for an interview and all of the footage they had access to.
  14. Haha, I'm glad. Yeah, Lance Reddick is just a cool guy in general. I have never seen any of the John Wick movies, but I have a feeling I'd like them a lot. The books are great. I've listened to the first 6 or so via audio book (they just re-released the first book on audio book, read by Titus Welliver, who plays Bosch on the show). A funny thing happened one day when I was in line for a plane at LAX. I looked behind me and noticed that Michael Connelly, the author of the Bosch series, was behind me. I've seen probably 20-30 people I recognized since moving to Hollywood and have never bothered any of them, but decided to say hi. Originally, I intended to just say hi, tell him that I love the show and the books, and that I live in Hollywood right where the story is set. But he was very nice and we kept talking for several minutes as we waited to board the plane. With that note, if anyone on KF ever makes it out to Hollywood and loves Bosch, let me know, and I'll give you a tour. Many of the locations are within a mile of me. Patrick
  15. Welcome Dave. Patrick
  16. Thank you for the kind words, Bob. We're glad to have you, Fat Cobra. And thanks, RW! Patrick
  17. Hey all, KarateForums.com is 19 years old today. Honestly, I'm not sure what to say, but I am going to share what comes to mind immediately. I love that we're still having meaningful conversations after so long. It's fun that we've had multiple members return after being away for several years and be like, "hey, I'm glad you're still here." That's a unique thing that only happens with communities that exist over a long period of time. I always get a kick out of that. We're not as active as we once were, but that's okay. Communities ebb and flow, and there is nothing wrong with having a good, core group of people. I'm grateful for those who contribute thoughtful posts to our community. Members like ashworth, aurik, Bulltahr, CTTKDKing, Fat Cobra, hammer, Himokiri Karate, JazzKicker, LastKing, Nevinyrral, P.A.L, rhilllakefield, RW, Spartacus Maximus, scohen0300, Spodo Komodo, Tempest, and Wado Heretic. I'm fortunate to have a great group on staff who exemplify what the community is all about and work behind the scenes to keep things in a good place. Thank you to bushido_man96, DWx, tallgeese, Wastelander, sensei8, Lupin1, Nidan Melbourne, JR 137, and mazzybear. We're running old software with weird quirks. I'm looking at possibly changing that, but don't want to make any promises or talk about timelines as I've loosely discussed it before and had other things take priority. I don't want to look forward too quickly, but May 21, 2021 will be 20 years of KF, and that is such a crazy mark. We have members who will chart growth within their life and martial arts journey with their time spent here, who know where they were when they joined and where they are now, and the happy and sad moments in between. It's such an amazing thing that this community has been a part of those lives, and it's one of the things that stands out the most. Thank you for helping to make this a special place. Patrick
  18. I'm sorry to hear about your father, Spodo Komodo. The kind words about this community mean a lot. Thanks for contributing to what makes KF that type of place. It's good to have you back. Patrick

March marked 10 years since you joined our community! It's amazing to have members like you over such a long period of time. Thanks, Patrick
  20. Yeah, I feel like you'd definitely like it, Brian. Patrick

  22. I'll miss the show, but at least we know its on the way out, so they can end it appropriately.
