  1. Yeah, there are a lot of people your age. This community was built to be inviting to all ages and, as such, we attract a very diverse crowd. Users of all ages from all sorts of backgrounds.
  2. We mistakenly removed two posts from this thread. Sorry for the inconvenience. They were as follows: I'd actually be intereted in your basis for making that statement, as I am a member of the WTSDA, and I can assure you, I am not at all concerned with "flashiness". I think any large organization will have some members who are less traditional than others, but on the whole, I have to say we are a VERY traditional organization, headed up by Jae C Shin, who was a direct student of Hwang Kee. I'll be attending the Master's Clinic in a few weeks, and the training is extremely traditional. In fact, Grandmaster Shin's goal this year is to have strictly traditional training be the main focus more than ever before. We'll train as if we were all white belts again, and will train hard. I remember a couple years ago when a TKD master attended as a guest, and after witnessing our hyung training period, told us we were all "crazy", in that we performed the same hyung for about two hours without pause. I took it as a compliment. I won't deny that there are elements of "flash" when tournaments are brought into the equation, but I do not train my students to compete in tournaments, and it will never be my focus. Most instructors I know share this belief. I am NOT trying to create arguents or flames. I am merely interested in knowing what your experience with the WTSDA is regarding this statement. I am genuinely interested in others' interpretations of my organization, in that as a new master in teh association, it will be one of my goals to help uphold the standards of traditional martial arts, and to help promote these values within the association itself. I believe every large association, to a certain degree, contains those who wish to remain traditional, and those who are more modern, those who have more focus on making money, bringing "flash" into things, and training for the basis of competition. I do, however, believe that these "modernists" are the very vocal and very exposed minority, and that the majority of instructors simply go about their day to day business and training, without the flash, and without trying to get entangled in political issues.
  3. Welcome to KF.
  4. Hello all, Bad news, sorry. We're up, we're down. Virus here, no virus there. The same problems we had a little while back again. I'm not sure when it'll be settled, however... I can only say to keep your virus programs set to kill for the time being. Again, the AVG Free Edition is more than capable of dealing with this virus. It's still being worked on and hopefully we'll be able to sort it soon... the sooner, the better. But, we're doing what we can and I apologize for any trouble that it may cause. Sincerely,
  5. Welcome.
  6. Thank you for the submission.
  7. Just say post on KarateForums.com so we can all claim one at least.

  17. Yes, I noticed one of my post missing. It was the one where I got confused and thought I was on my bank's website and I posted my credit card numbers, bank accout numbers, SSN, etc. Whew! Oh, yes. That one did get deleted.
  18. Yes, it is possible that there are few posts and others changes that were made right before it started, during, etc. that may be lost. Thanks.
  19. Hello, As you may have noticed, KarateForums.com was down for nearly 2 days. The server that we are on was breached with someone redirecting traffic to a site where you would get infected with a virus. So, if you visited and you were forwarded/got a popup window and you were not protected, you now have a virus. For this, you have my apologies. I got the virus myself. It is easy enough to clean up. If you have a virus scanner, just update the definitions and run it. If you don't, I recommend the AVG Free Edition as that is what I use. Download it, update the definitions and run it. You should be good. We should be back up now (besides a few minutes possibly). Welcome back. Thank you for your patience.
