Well at the mo he's doing VERY well, he's won every race by a long margin, and he's actually made me stop watching F1 because he completely dominates. Go BAR, Go Mclaren!!

The post was actually about michael schumacher doing judo when he was younger, thats all, no big deal.

Yeah, u gotta look pretty scarey. Most bouncers are just a bunch of brawlers looking for some action. Someone who does any type of grappling art would do well, some good locks and grabs are all u need, obviously with some balls and abit of muscle behind them too.

Hey ur from georgia, isn't the masters there at the mo, i'm just watching it now, getting abit of rain over there arent ya .

Whats the general vibe in your dojo, is it laid back, with abit of small talk and humour? Are you all good friends? Or is it more formal and serious?

wado_lee, I'm not saying that sparring is all you need, far from it. All I meant is that sparring is a fundemental part of ur training, just as much as your drills, kata's and exercises etc. You cant rely on one thing alone to get you through it, but you also cant neglect one (especially one as important as sparring), each develops you in a different way. If I was in a club with no sparring I would quit, not just because my level of proficentcy in karate would be less, but also because I enjoy sparring and I look forward to it at the end of the lesson, like many do. You must also remember; sparring improves your fitness, technique, experience and a whole lot of other things, its the closest thing to a real fight u'll get. Its one thing punching an imaginary opponent but fighting a real person, its a whole different ball game. Remember, Knowing how an opponent moves gives you more understanding when practising your technqiues.

I'm sorry I was abit sharp in my post, I'm just so suprised that some ppl haven't heard of michael schumacher, because in the racing world as hole he is considered a legend, especially due to the fact that he has broken nearlly every record in Formula One racing. I myself am not much of a F1 fan, and have not watched any Grand prix's this season, purely because schumacher dominates the races and has won every single one this year by a large margin. DLopez, I definatly understand your point about the cars almost driving themselves, and although i'm not much of a racing fan I do prefer other racing types to F1, although I cannot dismiss that Formula one is at the forefront of modern racing and is basically the testing grounds for all on-road supercars. Shorinryu Sensei, things like NFL and NBA are not a good example because they are exculsive to the US, meaning ppl outside would probably not know any players. F1 on the otherhand is a world wide motorsport, in which racing teams from around the world participate. Michael Shumacher is considered a legend and his racing skills make him seem like a machine. Anyway away from racing cuz this is a martial arts forum, which unlike racing is where my passion lies . Soz again about the attitude .

Ok, I do karate and i've never done any grappling arts. However there are some throws, especially for knife defences that we learn. I need a grapplers expert advice and remember I know nothing about locks so treat me as a complete newbie and be as comprehensive as u like. Ok then, i've taken the guy to the ground and i'm standing over him on his left side, I have hold of his right wrist with my left hand. I'm in left stance and his arm is more or less touching the inside of my left leg; what do I do next, I'd like to know how to initiate an arm bar from here, i'm guessing i'll be stepping over his head and then going to the ground?

Ok, if u all give me 100k i'll go buy an Island for us, and then we can all train together and live like kings! of course i'd be ur leader and anybody who challenges my leadership will have to fight me to the death for it !

Check this site out, its got a database of all the extreme/fancy kicks u could think of and how to do them. Check it out. http://www.neokarate.net/ click on the "moves" link on the left hand tool bar. Good ones to check out are "death kick", "tornado kick" and "Kamikazi"! p.s plz dont post back saying "These wont work in real life, blah blah" I know, there just for movies, stunts, demonstrations etc.

Depends what u want, muay thai is more full-contact and ring fighting and obviously is more sport orientated. Theres lots of body conditioning like heavy bag and stuff. Wing Chun is a very effective self-defence martial art, one of the best. Its actually what Bruce Lee trained before he devised his own art (JKD). Both very good arts, dunno what i'd go for though, i'd have to see what the clubs were like in my area.

Rich2k3, well it aint very interesting, my names Richard and the year is(was) 2003. Hows that for originality

I dont like em, the acting is terribe and the props are... well u know what I mean.

Yeah, u'll basically stand round and be a deterant agaisnt shop lifters. Obviously if somone steals somthing then ur gonna have to chase them and restrain them (becareful though, no exessive force). They do like it though if u know any kind of martial art and if u say u do karate then they'll probably higher u. If ur doing nightshifts then thats patrol outside the building most likely. It depends though, is it a 24hr business, in which case u'll be in the building as usual. If u want a job with some action u could try for a bouncer, although u gotta be pretty big and mean lookn' .

What....?

What makes your school unique?
Rich_2k3 replied to yireses's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
The whole style, only two clubs exist that teach it! 1 in London and 1 in Moira. Its a fantastic style though, blending several modern and tradition styles, with elements of Thai boxing and some grappling. It focusing particually on self defence. -
Technically humans are primates but most ppl dont refer us as them, anyway u know what I mean .

Jerry, I've been noticing a slight correlation in some of ur posts recently, u seem to automatically disagree with everything ppl say on principle. Now u do seem to be quite knowledgable and bring up some good points but plz dont analyze EVERYTHING ppl say and find faults with everything. I was merely trying to help the guy with some good sources. Thx

Michael Shumacher is THE top Formula One racer in the world, he drives for ferarri, and is THE highest earning sportsman on earth, I cant actually believe u havent heard of him!!! Do u live in a bubble or somthing. I know formula one racing is not so big in the US but u shud still have heard of him. He obviously doesnt do go-karting anymore but he used to when he was a kid, its what got him started in racing. heres a link: http://www.itv-f1.com/history/drivers/schumacher_m p.s Have you even heard of ferrari or Formula One racing?

No probs, however I wouldnt know, u'd have 2 ask a gymnast. Try a gymnastic forum, we are martial artists after all .
