I was just wondering what everyone thought about the t.v show ultimate fighter? Does anyone think the fighters on the show could handle fighting pros like tito ortiz, vitor belfort etc... I personally don't think that any of them could get down with the big dogs. What's your opinion?

I 'd have to say that my favorite part would be when shooter hits his golf ball on to the foot of the big guy with the nail stuck in his head.I loved it when the guy says "and you can count on me waiting for you in the parking lot". I love it!

I thought thats who you were talking about. Hes taught several seminars on judo at my dojo. He knows what hes talking about when it comes to judo, thats for sure. We were affiliated with the USMA for years but I don't know if we still use that association now or not. Porter sensei has about 50+years being envolved with judo. He's definitly one the one to learn from. If anyone ever has the chance to train with him, I would take it.

Or maybe a handgun would do?

I've wacked myself a couple of times also. thats no fun when that happens! years after i had learned to use nunchaku, my friends and I were outside in my backyard and they were watching me doing some fast nunchaku stuff when the chucks slipped out of my hand and hit my friend right in the stomach from about ten feet away! luckily, he wasn't hurt. He never would come around me again if he saw that I was practicing nunchaku!

what is jujitsu like
Davison replied to a topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
It would depend on what kind of jujutsu you speak of. There are a lot of different systems out there, traditional jujutsu, brazilian jujitsu and other hybrids as well. Find out what the name of the system of jujutsu is and i'm sure everyone will be glad to give you some imput on the matter. -
I've never heard of an okinawan system called karatejutsu. I always thought okinawan karate systems were such as goju ryu,or shorin ryu and so on. I also have never heard the term "Laido" in describing a sword style. I know that iaido is the way of drawing the sword. I 've studied muso jikiden eishin ryu iaijutsu off and on for years now. kobudo is an okinawan weapons system. I wonder if the kobujutsu style you speak of is a hybrid system of kobudo?

ninjutsu vs combat hapkido
Davison replied to karsh44's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
I think it would come down to who is teaching those systems. I don't think there are vary many legit ninjutsu instructors out there unless the system is some sort of a hybrid system. I probably would go for the hapkido school. If I was you, I would just go to both dojo's and check them out to see for your self -

How you've dealt with verbal things

Are you talking about the phillip porter that is a high ranking judo instructor?

If I were you, I would put on a ninja uniform and gather my implaments of destruction and go and hunt this guy down or maybe just follow him to his house and wait for him to leave so that you can break into his house and steal all of his stuff so he knows what its like to be a victim, or maybe just call the police.

I don't know of any bujinkan dojos other than DR.matsaki hatsumi's and i think that is in sanfransico ca or san diego ca. krazychicano, bujinkan is one of ,if not the only ninjutsu system left that is legit.

I agree a 100% with grenadier. nunchaku might have been used by the ninja but were not considered a "ninja weapon", if anything, they would be considered a okinawan weapon since they were the ones to create it . I belive that when the japanese ocupied okinawa, the japanese did not allow them to have weapons and confiscated as many weapons as they could find. The Okinawans had to come up with a way to create weapons that would not be considered a weapon. So they disguiesed them as farm tools and the practice of these weapons were taught and carried on from generation to generation .

I would buy a double weave gi. I have had my double woven gi for about 13 yrs now and the only thing that has went wrong with it was the collar has frayed over the years. It wolud probably be cheaper in the long run.

I don't think any of those systems are any better than one another.I think it just depends on your preference of martial arts that you are interested in. I also think that any one of those styles you are referring to has the potential to be affective on the street for self defense giving that you learn from a legit instructor and have devoted time in learning it.

In the state where i live, you wouldn't be charged with attack with a deadly weapon, it would just be aggravated battery, which is a class three felony. If you told someone that you were going to beat them up or kill them, then you could be arrested for assault. It varys from state to state.I m sure other states probably are more harsher than others.

5 point palm exploding heart technique
Davison replied to Son Goku the monkeyking's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
One day after I watched kill bill 2, I walked up to the top of wudan mountain to ask my 134yr old kungfu master how to use the five point palm technique and he said, "I will teach you the technique you desire, but it will cost ya 500 dollars".I was like man, for 500 bucks, I could just go buy a gun for that much money and shoot some one in the heart and it would accomplish the same thing as the five point palm technique.Besides that, what do need 500 dollars for,...you live on top of a mountain as a monk? He said, thats not the point. So I say to him, what is the point? He says to me , I could just take the money from you. I said,... good point. So, the next day I made my way down the mountain to a little tavern called "crappies" to have a beer with some friends and was having a good time until some idiot started to pick a fight with me. I tried to walk away but fighting was going to be inevitable and considering that I just learned the most devestating technique that was new in my martial arts arsenal, I was feeling very confident in my motives. So , I said to the guys that were about to get their hearts exploded, I 'll give you one more chance to walk away before I kill you. Just as they started to laugh at me, I struck with precision timeing and accuracy to each of their chests useing the exploding five palm strike. I was amazed at what happened next,.........................................It didn't work!!! I thought to myself, that old bastard is going to pay for this if I live through this. -
Just how long does it take.....?
Davison replied to Krazy Carol's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
It takes about 4 yrs to reach black belt level in the system that I study. -
Do your friends get involved?
Davison replied to dancin_ash's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
All of the friends that I have would and have came to my aid in situations that I was going to have to fight. Plus, most of them are police officers and don't mind arresting the indivduals before all hell breaks loose!!! -
Everyone loses a fight at one point in their life, its human nature,no ones perfect.Losing makes you learn from your mistakes .Losing helps build character.I wouldn't worry about it too much, when the time comes, just defend yourself to the best of your abilitys.

I think this is a great idea shorinryu sensei,I'd love to come out your way! Last summer, I went threw east glacier on amtrak and the scenary was amazing. I was heading out to oregon to stay with my girlfriends sister up on mt. hood.I might be going back this summer and if i can take off work around the dates that have been set,i would love to make the event. If not , i suggest that we hold a west coast, east coast, and central get together. I live about 3 hrs south of chicago il and i know i've seen users that don't live to far from that. we could post pictures from the three different events being held in 2005. Maybe people from these areas can specifiy were they live and designate a person and location to help cordinate each event. It might be easier that way. Either way, i hope something can come of the idea.

I have had three bonsai trees and I've had absolutly no luck with them . They just dry up and die. I started to feel bad that I couldn't take care of them so I gave it up. I bought A bamboo plant and it is much easier to take care of.
