  1. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of Shaolin Chuan Karate. Awhile back, I heard that there was a school in a city near by where I live. I went to check it out and met the instructor before a class that he was about to teach and he asked if I would like to join in for a complamentry lesson. I said yes and when I got on the mat, we went over some basic punching and kicking that were very similar to a style of Karate that I had studied before. Then he started to teach some basic wrist locks and throws that he said were advanced in his system. I went to check this system out because I was interested in learning kungfu because there are no kungfu systems taught in my area. After class, I stayed on the mat with him and explained to him that I have studied Japanese ma's for a long time and he asked if I would be interested in fighting in a tournement that his school was going to attend. I said maybe and he asked if I would spar w/ him so that he could acess my abilitys. I don't think that he belived me that I had studied for as long as I said I did. So, I agreed to do a little sparring and to make a long story short, I threw him from one side of the mat to the other. He didn't land a punch and every time he threw one, I would hit him a few times and the put him in a wrist lock or armbar and throw him. When we were done, he comended me on my skills and said to me that he would teach me his system free of charge if I agreed to teach him my system. He also said that I would not have any compatition if I were to enter the tourny as a white belt and that if I sign up that he would just promote me to black belt level so that I could fight bb level. I was just wondering if anyone has ever even heard about this system or if it is just bogus. I had never heard of shaolin being asociated with Karate before.
  2. I studied HG for about a month before I made my mind up that this was a mcdojo. The last straw was when the sifu and I were talking after class about the other system of MA that I hold instructor rank in and he says to me,"if you teach me your system, I will teach you mine for free.I told him that I would think about it and left. I didn't go back for about three weeks and when I did return, I walked in to watching him teaching a technique that I had showed him. This is the second time I have been in this situation. So needless to say, I left for good.
  3. I sure wish I had the opportunity to study martial arts at a dojo operated by such a person as shihan Demura. I have heard great things about him. If I were you, I'd stay with sensei Demura. Maybe you could just find another system close by to supplement your skills. Most people would do anything to be in your shoes training with shihan Demura.
  4. I liked House Of 1000 Corpses but it really reminded me of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It even had one of the actors in it from the 2nd chainsaw film. Still cool but very close in simularity.
  5. What are the gerbils symptoms? I have had both of mine get sick before. Sometimes if they get wet they can develop a sickness called wet tail. I've seen their water bottle drip a few drops on to them and in a days time, get sick from this. Make sure that you get them to the vet as soon as possible. If you haven't already, make sure to give him some clean bedding and try to keep him as warm as possible. keep us posted.

  9. Ya, I loved Steven King's "It "also. The clown was very creepy. You have to love a scary movie that lasts almost 4 hrs. Ginger Snaps was pretty cool.I have not seen the sequel but I liked the first one. I love werewolf flicks. The Howling series is probably my favorite but I also liked Steven Kings "silver Bullet".
  10. Completly worthless if you ask me. Anything for a buck these days.
  11. Just give the man what he wants. It sure ain't worth dying for. Then just try to get a good description of the guy so that you can give it to the police.
  12. Either drunken boxing or shaolin long fist. Both of those systems would be great to learn!
  13. I agree with Harmony. I just seen master of the flying guillotine about a month ago and I loved it! That guy with the guillotine was just bad@!#. I with I knew how to use one of those things!
  14. I have seen a special called budo, the martial way that was a national geographic show about different styles of martial arts and it had a section of stuff on the shaolin monks. It was really impressive. There was a six yr old monk in training that could squat down and grab a hold of his ankles and jump in the air to do a summersult and would land on his head and then bounce back on to his feet. It was amazing. They also had some cool spear demonstrations going on . One monk would take a double edged spear and place it point first into his throat while another monk at the other end of the spear would do the same. They both started to walk in a circle increasing their distance until they walked straight in at eachother and snapped the spear without punturing their throats. It came out a few yrs back but it was interesting to see all of the different arts be demonstrated. Maybe we seen the same one .I dunno.
  15. Well don't look at me, I dunno.

  18. I agree that if a neck breaking technique is in your ma arsenal,it should be kept secret to prevent younger, more impressionable students from trying to learn the technique. furthermore, how does anyone really train to break someones neck? Sure, you can go over a rehersed method of achiving this goal but unless you have broken someones neck before, you really don't know . It's a lot harder to break somebodys neck then you would think. The movies make it look soooo easy.If a technique is taught at someones dojo, the instructor teaches that technique because he has experience in useing that technique.I would hope that an instructor wouldn't teach somthing that he has no experience in. So that being said, how can an instructor teach a student how to break a human neck without actually ever breaking someones neck himself. It's all speculations if you ask me.
  19. For anyone that studys kuk sool won, have you ever heard of an instructor,Ed Sanchez? Just curious,a few of my friends have studied with him and 've always heard good things about him but I have never trained with him before. He has a dojang in my home town but I train at another dojo in a different system. I believe he is a fifth or sixth dan in that style. Just curious, thought I would ask.
  20. I have heard good things about Wally Jay. I have seen a couple of his books that a buddy of mine has and it looked like he had some good tricks in his bag.
  21. Good Luck! been there, done that. I'm sure glad I grew out of that phase. It's probably over a girly. I hope she's worth it!
  22. I'm glad southworth is gone. I wish someone would have knocked him out cold.I hope that when this show is over and there is only one person is left,I get to see him fight against a real fighter in the UFC.I don't think he'll last long, whoever it is.
  23. Usually when I hear a strange sound in my house,I know that all of my very large dogs will take care of the problem so I don't even bother getting out of bed anymore!
