Aiming to bounce or to go through?
blitzcraig replied to YoungGrasshopper's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Well, in some cases you do need follow through or the move will be sloppy. I think it all depends on the move. You really dont want extensive follow through on a jab, but a thrust kick....its in the name. -
Aikido is great for older people...not saying your old...cuz im 20, but its an art that requires little energy and mainly technique. So if you keep with it, by the time your 30....you'll be great!!!! Stick with it! I know people that dont start until their 50's and I wouldnt mess with them . And besides, I started karate when I was 18, and have been out of it for about 8 months and cant wait to start again, I dont really care about age.

blitzcraig replied to Kumite988's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I really dont think its that big a deal. At my school I would spar and I am known for my high kicks, so every time I sparred a shorter person and I tried to kick them in the head....*BAM* *NUTS*...and then they all would laugh at me. The one time I forgot my cup though I told them and they respected that and didnt kick me in the.....*cough* cahones -

Why is oklahoma so limited in its MA schools. All we mainly have that I know of is Karate-normal, TKD, and BBJ. There are a few Kung fu and aikido/judo schools. I want to learn like Gojo-ryu or shotokan or something like that....not kick the pad do TKD forms out of a book! -

Me....no, not me, not even close. Now, who is mirko cou cop? Cant say Ive heard of him. Im leaning towards, ken, ryu, and M. Bison. Haha. No, its really hard to say. I gar-on-tee that there are many a fighters out there with skills unmatched that we have never heard of, so unless you know these folk personally, I would have to say that question is unanswerable.

Yea, I work security for target and not everyone is compliant about comming into our office with us so we are supposed to use "non-violent crisis intervention tactics"-the least force possible to apprehend these fools. Now, me being a skinny not to strong of a guy, 6ft 155lbs and only have taken karate, I cant kick a shoplifter in the gut, or punch their trought, so were supposed to wrestle them to the ground and use locks or presure points to put them in handcuffs. and if im trying to grab them and there squrmin and running away, I would like to know a throw or joint lock to put them in there place.

At my old school I was told about 3 years, but I've seen people reach brown in about a year so it may be faster. I was attending classes at an aikido school wear it would have takin a little more that a year! I feel expersince is a big part of the belt
