you all seem to aquire alot of imformation on the subjects you speak of. Thats good -
I feel Kung Fu is the most affective. It originated in china I think and was made by farmers who needed to protect themselves and there land and family. Now dont quote me on this I may be wrong but thats what I heard it originated from. Its good to look into. Check it out. But like tommarker stated, firearms are good if its needed.

Yea, that whole incident with the judo truck attempted highjacking was great.

I dont feel UFC is scripted. They are "real" fights kinda but they do have there limitations. It is good to know different MA's in that aspect because it seems like those guys like to mount eachother and if some dude is mounting you wouldnt you like to be able to get out of it? Can someone tell me about this Cung guy? I haven't heard of him before. -
Think about this. Whats the point of big mussles if you cant use them affectivly? But they are good to have
-
Thats true. It is hard to state which has the best strikes. They all can be affective, even a jab or a backhand, its all in the technique, but yes, boxing punches are scary.

Yep 5-6 months, this is due to sucking up and a few private lessons. You all have good points. Belts dont nessassarly matter. If some one wants to take a few private lessons and then test right after that for there belt then let them. But in a few months when we, the ones who train hard still remember what weve learned and the users of the fast lane of belt progression dont, then that will be there fault.

I am also a fan of the cresent kick. It can be very affective and easy to use! -
Two Women Beat up some morons

Im glad they could defend them selves. Some guys always underestamate women and thats what they get. If they "need some" that bad they could always have eachother. HAha -

Im a fan of the fancy flash spinning kicks such as the 540 and 720. -
When I was a yellow belt my school had me spar a black belt/national champion from my school. It was one of my first time sparring and I ducked a little thinking he was gonna throw a spinning cresent.....no, it was a turn kick! Hit me in the temple, knocked me out for a little while, great fun that was! Other than that not to many, kicked in groin a few times, thank you for the cup, and the only other bad one was when I attempted a 540 and landed on my heal sideways and it swole up pretty big.

colour of belt system???? quick anyone??
blitzcraig replied to babygrew26's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
At my Karate school it goes as follows.... White-1 or 2 stripes depending on how fast you progress. Yellow Orange Green Blue Purple 4th brown 3rd brown 2nd brown brown red-40 teaching hours or something like that black-and so on So money and time play a big part in belt progression as well -
I was kinda leaning towards Kenpo such as KSN doug said.

A) about a year or so B) Karate-Tkd, and a little boxing but I dont consider that a MA C)Green, ready to test for blue but haven't been able to because of car/transportation problems D) Truthfully, I think Kung-fu is the best, but I really do like them all.
-
A good MA school should not only focus on self defence, but also physical training. If your not fit for the class, then you will get tired fast and not give 100% during the class. But truthfully, I feel karate is better

I understand all your thoughts about the "McDojo"<---hilarious, anyways, I attend National Karate in OKC lead by Jim Butin. Over the last few years, we've been ranked in the top 25 karate schools in North america and the flying through the belts occurs here too!! Now, for this school to have such a good rep, why does this occur? Money and Favoritizm are my thoughts. I've been at my school for about a year and I am almost ready to test for blue, and there are people that have been there for 5-6 months who are ready for purple! Whats a few private lessons gonna do compaired to 5 more months of training. They will be surprized when its time to test for higher belts and they wont be able to pass due to there lack of traning!

Yea, its a great thing to have buds in your dojo/class. Practice partners, hangout friends and possibly you can meet "segnificant others" <--I cant speel al thet weel.

Why some MA people get beat in real fights
blitzcraig replied to craknek's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
At my school, they put this guy that had only been a BB for about 5 months in a teaching possition. They gave him the Beginning adults class. There was a lot of complaints about it because they felt he wasnt fully trained in teaching. A person may be able to show you how to do something or tell you, but you yourself must learn how to do it affectivly. -
Controlling power when punching
blitzcraig replied to Big Game's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
they've pretty much summed it up. And if that doesnt work and you keep hitting or kicking to hard, then your seinsi might make you stand infront of the class and kick you in the head with his "supurb" control like he did to this one guy in my class. -
what about those fruits who get in fights every day because they think its cool? If you were to get in a fight with one of them they will have some experence in what they do. They have to adapt to what works best also. I mean, if your fighting some fat punk bully guy, then yea, it would be alot easier to kick him in the head than for him to kick you.
