Best strangle holds?
WolverineGuy replied to Rich_2k3's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Hmm...I guess the best way for you to understand what's up with the arm (trust me, it ain't movin) is to actually get into the choke. From the picture, I kind of understand where you're comin from, but I've been locked in this choke, it's tough to get out of (although my master instructor escaped mine last night...I didn't have his arm QUITE far enough under his neck to strangle him). On a personal note, my master instructor said last night was the best he's ever seen me grapple. And I thought I was having an off night! Woohoo for me! -
Bad Backs and Jujitsu

judoka86 is right...most judo throws are done with leg power, not back power. Falling could cause a strain, simply from the shock (slap as hard as you want, your body still comes to a sudden stop which shocks your body). -

Best strangle holds?

Triangle chokes are one of my favorite techniques, so here goes: 1. Bite the guys stomach/lower abdomen area. On the street they aren't going to be wearing a heavy weight judo gi. If you have enough room to wriggle up and bite anywhere on the guy applying the choke, he doesn't know what he's doing. The choke is VERY tight, and your own arm is in front of you, blocking your way (unless you have a very long jello neck) 2. Take his right hand and oull it back under himself (looks easy enough) and grab the guys testicles. Not sure exactly what you mean by that...however, the guy putting the choke on has his hands LOCKED on top of your head pulling down. As for grabbing the boys downstairs...while POSSIBLE, its not likely. you don't have a lot of leverage to strike them either, although striking would be more effective than trying to grab. There just isn't enough room. 3. Get his feet under him and lift the guy up as far as he can (won't be able to go fully erect) and body slam him down on the the floor (preferable on a chair or rock) as hard as he can. Now THAT is an effective counter...if you can get the leverage to lift a guy off the ground that is hanging on to your head for dear life. Keep in mind though, if the guy knows how to do a triangle, he also knows what to do if you stand (like let go, or flow into a sweep, or a flying armbar) 4. Left hand and eye gouge or claw at his face/throat. Possible, but not likely. The arm under the head is leveraged in TIGHT and shouldn't be able to move, and the one outside of the choke simply won't reach. 5. Possibly take his right knee and start hammering to his testicles. Nope, there is no physical way your knee will reach his testicles. Although ramming into his spine might be an option...this isi difficult, but not impossible 6. Reach up and grab a finger or two and pull real hard. Not allowed in competition, but a VERY good street counter. Just watch out for an armbar if you do try it. 7. Sit and wait..his leg will tire and he will have to let go in 2 minutes or so. If you're in this choke for longer than 8 seconds, you'll be dead. While I don't think the person would hold on to it after you were out, please never try this. I can't see where this is actually a "choke" as there's nothing pressing against his throat except your stomach, which won't do it Rather, it looks more like a head lock. This is a blood/air choke. Your arm presses against your own corotid artery and throat, and his legs are around the other corotid artery. Probably more of an air choke, to be honest. The hands on the back of hte head provide a TON of leverage and stop the air flow instantly. I can see where you'd get the misconceptions by looking at it, but talk to anyone that's used it or been in it, it's a VERY easy technique to lock on, and very effective. -
Very laid back. We just have a good time. Trained in grappling for two straight hours after our one and a half hour regular class tonight...I'm whopped

Awfully sporting of you...

Real or not, wish I had that kind of control over my own body.

I was going to try bouncing, but I'm just not intimidating looking in my opinion...then again, some of the bouncers I've seen couldn't bounce a basketball, much less a rowdy drunk.

Look who's talking, Mr. Project X Specimen. My claws are better than yours.

Eh, fat burners do have their place. THe key is not to RELY on them. They are a supplement, just like the others that I mentioned. If you're not following a good diet, the effects will be minimal. I've found that for the money, Xenadrine is probably the best. The most effective, oddly enough coming from muscletech, is Hydroxycut. However, Hydroxycut is so darned expensive, I hardly find it worth the cost. As Rich said, though, diet is key. If you dont' have a good diet, don't even bother with a fat burner.

Kind of...but there are no submissions in HS wrestling. Plus, being pinned is of no concern in BJJ. I dunno, if you're looking for one on one competition, then go for it. If you're looking for something similar to wrestling...well, its two guys rolling around on the floor. That's where the similarities end.

If you can find a gi big enough for that name. -
For fat burn: Xenadrine Building Muscle: Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein (Chocoloate Mint Flavor), GNC Creatine Monohydrate, Multivitamin (I take Solotron), Flax Seed Oil, and ZMA. None of those actually build muscle per se, but you will get most of your essential Aminos and fats. Plus, the ZMA will replenish your testosterone levels at the end of the day if you've worked out (ZMA is not a steroid or a prohormone, it simply helps to get your levels back to normal).

Just another way for your club to make money. Remember, sometimes they keep tuition low, so they have to make up for it in other ways. I wouldn't sweat the testing fees of under fifty bucks.

I'd have to go with the Muay Thai guy as well. Call me silly.

I'm a first dan, and I know that I can teach effectively. Although, I do have over 14 years in the arts. It all depends on experience.

I'm a black belt, but I can't go all the way down...close, but not quite.
