  1. I'm sure it's effective, but I doubt there's any authenticity to it.
  2. Very interesting indeed. Very cool!
  3. Yeah, sounds fishy.
  4. See the thing is if you move at a 45 and back from the first strike the shot will be a mile away. Now if you close the distance then shooting in is a mute point it's probably better attempted a standing take down or throw. It's all about distance and timing. I'm not saying that moving this way makes you immune to double or single leg takedown, it just makes it a little more difficult. I feel more vunerable with the single leg than the double for some reason. I like moving in ways that I get in back of the opponent and jack him from the back or at the 45 so that they have to completely adjust. You can also do this stuff in a tight spot it doesn't take alot space to find little holes to move to. You guys that compete when you in close try stomp kicking someones upper thigh or their hip kind of like your kicking a door down it should send them to the floor. I've yet to see many people employ good non-telegraphed stomp kicks at close range in competition. Try it let me know how it goes. I'm looking for a place that does full contact for visitors do you know of any in my area?
  5. Well we mostly do it and follow through by clinching and taking them down. Also, if you are constantly moving and using your movement to take their balance you might get smacked. It shouldn't be a big shot if their fighting to keep their balance.
  6. How to fight=Kung Fu San Soo. I was being sarcastic because this is a direct and brutlal system of fighting that has worked for me far too many times for me to think otherwise. I can't speak for all San Soo schools, but it was the first MA that I had ever experienced multiple attacker scenarios as well as randori. With the proper training methods this system of fighting is at the top of the list of Combat MA's. San Soo has everything that you can think of. It has boxing style striking with low meaningful kicks, hammer blows, elbows, knees, head strikes, throws, grappling, ground fighting, dirty techniques, weapons, multiple attacker techniques, randori, bag training. I don't know what else you'd want it's pretty fricken complete and it definitely works. It's not to complicated and the learning it is fairly easy. It's not a very popular nor is it a very well known MA. It's constantly being confused with San Shou which is a sport MA. San Soo is not a sport MA whatsoever. This is straight forward and brutal MA that doesn't waste any time or movement.
  7. Well if it's a loved one, I guess I'll tell them to run while I deal with them.
  8. Grapple on the floor BJJ, Grapple on your feet TJJ or Judo.
  9. Striking with the whole body behing the strike or kick.
  10. Sure I agree if you don't have time slipping and parrying are necessary. The thing you want even in close is to attack their balance with your parry, and blocking should always be accompanied with a strike. Also, blocking while shifting in or towards their balance point is a good way to make a block mean something. The last thing you want is the fight to be a test of speed and strength. Always be in their weakest spot.
  11. Cool, just wondering. 15 years of MA's that's impressive. I'm on my very inconsistant 25 years. I hope I can keep it consistant from now on. Well for all you Americans, have a Happy Thanksgiving and for everyone else Cheers!
  12. Counter speed with timing. Grab his leading arm and punch him in the solarplexus. Bait him and time it, move in and grapple the little bastard.
  13. Hey Kirves what MA do you study? You're quite the historian, but your profile doesn't have any MA's listed. Just curious.
  14. Yeah, I see what he is saying. I hear that about everything these days. Karate doesn't work, Kung Fu doesn't work, TJJ doesn't work, Aikido doesn't work. I hear it about anything that isn't BJJ or Muay Thai or some form of MMA.
  15. Reklats I wasn't being sarcastic about the pepper spray. Lima Lama is not the Pepper spray MA, but that's funny. I think if you pepper spray someone in the face there's very little that person or persons can do against your attack. Very Ninjutsu of you.
  16. Here's a link I found http://protectiondevices.com/comhrac_bas_gladiator_fighting.html A lost, but rediscovered Roman Gladiator fighting art? Hmm. I wonder how they rediscovered it and how do they know they are doing it right? Where are all the masters of this who have been passing it on since the Roman era? Sounds like more marketing * to me. I'd put a battle ready Mushashi Miyamoto against any Gladiator. Dissing Asian MA's is silly.
  17. What's Comhrac Bas?
