  1. Welcome brother
  2. Dark said This is incorrect like johnny said this is charisma, Chi/Ki is the lifeforce energy that dwells in the universe and is within our body, we are our own chi or energy producer, chi is the force behind a erupting vulcano the link to the divine well in my belief altleased. There is several types of chi however, we all have it but must become more aware of it and learn to increase then we ascend to the level where chi is changed to shen(spirit). This is only the knowledge of which has been told to me i do not posses shen so thats all i can give about the subject. Chi on the other hand i do poses especially my combat chi and am fully aware of it, for more info check out some Chi kung and taichi sites for a better understanding.
  3. theswarm said Man i feel bad for u hope u didnt do any permanent damage Its always good to start small i.e to do a back flip begin to learn a bridge backwards soon u can do a semi back handspring then a full backhands spring then eventually a back flip. All i gotta say is it just takes time and practice and alot of B@lls! C-Yah and good luck KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!
  4. KickCHick said Yes thats correct the CDC has also declared the alert of a pandemic(pre-epidemic) so its wise to avoid those areas. The worst thing about it is it is a mutation of the common cold thus no cure for common cold, there has been a plane put under quarentine in t.o and its a pretty big scare.
  5. First u must think y ur toes hurt i dont think its because of kicking usually the shock will first go to ur knees because of incorrect technique, try warming up ur feet first i.e warm up joint rotations and foot conditioning. Try it and if there is still a problem go see a proffesional and im sure a doctor can find out what is wrong. GOOD LUCK KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!
  6. delta said That is true however u do not have to be at a such high level to begin sword forms. Tai chi is very much an excellent complementary style to improve on ur health, speed ,balance and coordination.
  7. it could very much be a good mix, its about what u think will fullfill u as a martial artists thats what is important. Kali is a very good system concentrating on weapons i.e rattan stick, knife aswell and so on and so forth. Try it out u might enjoy it KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!
  8. BJK said This is a good point however there will* be intances that u do not have a choice by keeping it in ur mind that u should never fight is a good state of mind but in a potential situation it can get u killed. They say be humble but be humble till a certain point if u think the guy will just give u a beating then u leave scott free that is a very big misconception. In post WWII in Hawaii the creator of my discipline had a brother that brother broke up a fight between a couple of guys however they waited for him outside jumped him and stabbed him, he later died from internal bleeding so u see he never asked for it, it just happened so one must be prepared for such a situation and when it gets to this point its no longer a matter of being humble but between life and death and u will do what u need to do to survive KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT
  9. Well in that case i would be very confident in trickery I.E Motion toward opponents face then WAMMMMMMM! Snap kick to the groin follow up uppercut to nose then as for kajukenbo style making sure the opponent doesnt get up to attack again with a barrage of disabling attacks stomp the chest elbow the eye socket those kinda things but i find it kinda gross unless hes trying to kill u or something KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!
  10. Im kaju_influenced and id like to greet my fellow martial brothers and sisters i am currently practicing Kajukenbo-seeking black belt- Capoeira-green corda- Gungfu-ChoyLayFut- and JKD when i ever have time GOOD LUCK IN YOUR TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!
  11. Soo Bahk Do is an ancient, traditional Korean martial art comprising hand and foot techniques. The art is renowned for its disciplined approach and emphasis on the tradition and technical aspects of martial art. Like most traditional martial art systems, Soo Bahk Do has unlimited horizons. Consistent training leads to improvement not only in physical ability, such as flexibility, strength, stamina and speed, but also mental focus and application of will. These benefits develop a sense of calm and quiet confidence in the practitioner. However do not dismiss kempo, i have studied it firsthand and it is known for its lighting fast consequtive striking ability, however now that u know what it is the choice is ultimately yours KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!
  12. Well i currently have a student that practices wing chun kuen and i found that he was binded to his style I.E stances postures movements which is fine but limits him to his own abilities. I have practiced several arts in my short time here on earth and ive found wing chun as a great art but it seems to lack a range of aspects concerning lets say sparring. I am currently practicing kajukenbo which is a mixture of several martial arts devised to be able to deal with any street fight situation. In my journey to better my arts ive found that balance is most important I.E kajukenbo for its no BS approach to violece,JKD for its ranging and concept fighting, capoeira for its tremendous dynamics and gung fu for its circular movements not to mention a heep of philosophy to better ones character, all these i have practised and find them very fullfilling so u see it depends on ur needs as a MA. I can only say one thing to help u my friend "Follow your heart and open your mind, and you too will see the way". KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!
  13. Very well said and that is the truth more important to bruce was ones self truth as u explained JKD was intended for. Growth and decreasing ones ego or his/hers "preconceived fixed notions". "What the caterpillar sees as the end of the world the master will call a buterfly" -TRUTH- KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!
  14. Good for u MA U survived and thats all that maters, live long and be happy KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!
  15. I would have to say my mind, most effective tool in a fight KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!
  16. Remember my friend do what will fullfill u not what u think will, follow ur heart and open ur mind and u too will see the way. KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!
  17. Thats correct it is a Kip -up or cat spring and just keep practicing its fun to do
  18. NinjaMaster said That is not entirely correct like every style there is often a base for instance JKD, Wing Chun for its close quarters aspect an kickboxing for its longrange aspect. The diffrence between lets say a type of Karate style and JKD is that most karate styles will limit thereselfs to a range of fighting aspect where in the other hand JKD will see them from all ranges therefore as i said before turning it into a concept of fighting not a style that binds. Take this parable from the book of confucious for example- "Master what is the point of death?" his disciple asked. "My friend how can one understand death when one does not yet understand life!" or even what the great Brenden Lai once said as example " To disregard that ones knowledge has come from the past is to disrepect ones predessesors". That is also not entirely true, yes u are taught a basis of a fighting aspect but as u grow in the concept u soon learn to disregard something that is useless to U. Not what is useless to others might just be usefull to u, so u c its not a style that binds u as i explained but more a concept u must grow from. I have studied JDK with my sifu and aswell as Guro Inosanto and he can also concur with this concept. JDK is about decreasing oneself or more for expressing oneself being truthfull to urself without lying so it is most of all a concept over a style. KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!
  19. NinjaMaster said I beleive u are wrong JDK has ofcourse its foundation of Kickboxing wing chun as so on.. Lee said ...which is correct bruce always said and Sifu Dan Inosanto will also concur that one must absorb what is usefull and reject what is useless and ultimately adapt it to what is generaly ur own, making JDK a concept one must grow from not a style that one is binded by KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!
  20. Its true judo suposedly was strickly for combat but has evolved to adapt to competition. Before a hip throw was stickly dropping ur opponent on his head now its more competition wise, leaving that out.
  21. Very true my friend a black belt means nothing only the begining of a journey. There are those taht can teach but cant fight and there are those that can fight but cannot teach valor is right about crosstraining thats all i have done my whole life except for the fact i am concentrating more on 1 dicipline now. Wether u contact fight or not does not depic wether u can defend yourself or not more on the matter be a good fighter but take this saying from the view through the eyes of a metaphysical streetfighter "Don't worry if u cant kick high, kich him in the balls and when he bens over to puke then kick him in the head!" but like u guys said there should be a degree of mental capability to be able to fight and win. Very well said that is also another aspect we must focus on! KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!
  22. I agree however it depends on ur needs, Kicking, energy, what du u want to do thats whats important. Kempo is a very roundbased style, very direct but most lack different other kinds of fighting proficiencies. I.E im currently doing Kajukenbo which contains Tang soo do, judo, jujitsu, kempo and chinese boxing and because of such a mixture i find it very fullfilling as a whole martial art but i still crosstrain in JDK for its ranging and close quarters fighting aspect capoeira for its streetching routine and dynamics of the style so u see its about what u think will fullfill u as a whole martial artist. KEEP TRAINING AND ALLWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!
  23. i AGREE with jerry there are many combative martial arts out there ive been practicing kajukenbo an art strickly created for combat in the street because of the ammount of danger there was in post wwII in hawaii where it was created.
  24. I agree do a art that will fullfill u, soon u can journey through all aspects of the arts. Follow ur heart and open ur mind and u too shall see clearly KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!
  25. I would agree with ur response to the situation however there are times a all out fight cannot be over looked. The same happened to me at a pool hall near my house i was with about eight friends and like u explained began to argue, the guy stepped up to me but i backed down however a friend tap him a a intant brawl began it all happened in the flash of the eye wow What made the situation worst was they had more friends inside the joint that came out, the odds ruffly 20 to 8 lol pretty bad odds. But for some weird reason we won i cant awnser how but i can say one thing if u have to fight, fight hard and fast, get it over as fast as it started and be as alert as u can be dont get angry be calm KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!
