Theswarm I appreciate ur imput on the matter however u shuld strive to understand the meaning of my words before u begin to throw comments at someone, it would actually be people who are ignorant maybe like urself to give martial arts a bad name. Martial arts is the way of life, acceptance and understanding, by calling me names for a comment would be more ignorant than any. TJS said I appologize for my lack of understanding ur words i thought u meant something else Thnx for headsup about my post Dem. Theswarm said That was not the point of my post, REALITY IS!! Learn and listen im not talking about how guns are the way of a street martial if u didnt notice it was my own father who was killed by a gun. I Said "U may be able to do a back flip, you might be able to do alot of amazing kicks and u could be able to beat up alot of people but ur still an @sshole, it takes a coward to be able to hurt someone but it takes a brave man to heal" Now where n e where in that sentence does it refer to the use of guns? My goal as a martial artist is not to use guns or hurt people but to grow and ADAPT to life thats the only reason y i responded the way i did but as u can see i lacked understanding of ur words and i think Theswarm u should strive to understand aswell And yes dem u are right u would not speak to someone like that in realife however that seemed to have been the problem because words have no meaning especially over internet lol! But i appreciate ur acceptance and understanding my post without making a bad comment

If i can to correct something about bruce lee i think i would have to go back to Sifu Dan when he said the reason y bruce did not complete his wing chun training is because he didnt have to. There are those who do things in life and are able to skip a step bruce never completed to last of the dummies because he had already taking what was usefull. This is according to my sifu and Sifu Dan Inosanto so i dont really know the real truth but from someone that personaly trained with him i think i can trust. Bruce went beyond styles remember that very important! He did not believe in them due to there binding nature he found taking what was usefull and discarding what was useless and adapting it to what is originaly ur own was the best way to grow. Bruce believed in self grown or more in depth decreasing ones self "to express oneself honestly without lying to oneself", he said in one of his late interviews "that my friend is very hard to do!"

I agree DemXanth you would be suprised how an animal style can be! My Sifu chen yong fa from australia has the most destructive power and also the most ability to heal in one hunk of flesh, ppl tend to be too physical these days. TJS said hed like to see it in K-1, fine step out of the ring and into the real world. There are ppl out there that wont resort to a 1-1 fight. U can brag about beatin up dozens of ppl in the ring but what if ur on the street. My father was a 5 th degree BB in Kajukenbo had extensive training in tibetan white crane and would whip 7 bouncers around like a wet mop, he was 125lbs and 5'6 but the minute that one person got scared enough he put 7 bullets in him. So get ur heads out of ur @$# and realise what a martial artist is! he is not a fighter in a ring that is a competitor a martial artist is an artist at life. "U may be able to do a back flip, you might be able to do alot of amazing kicks and u could be able to beat up alot of people but ur still an @sshole, it takes a coward to be able to hurt someone but it takes a brave man to heal"

First off most rankings in Gung Fu are determined by sashes however level are also a factor. In my school women come...... but they dont last however there has been some very talented women martial artist and i give them my blessings and best wishes in their quest to fullfillment in the arts Its always good to see strong women not like the ones growing up these days! KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!

I would very much agree wit kerves however the essence of JKD is not based on a style such as wing chun or western boxing, ranging, appreciation for speed, timing and energy is of essence in any training i would think as bruce said him self to take from a style what is usefull and discard what is useless and adapt it to what is originaly ur own, not in those exact words but u get the point! Another thing a real life situation is very diiferent from training in the dojo so i think along side wit JDK try to go for something only combat oriented such as Muay Thai, Vale Tudo, ect... but i do admit training with Sifu Dan inosanto in JDK is an unforgetable experience, JKD will definiately give u that edge u need on the street and in competition. GOOD LUCK KEEP TRAINING AND ALWAYS WORK HARD AT IT!

Let me help verify what Sifu Dan said about kAli According to Guro Dan Inosanto Kali is a contraction of two words Kamut (hand) and Lihut (motion). Tuhon Leo Gaje believes that the word Kali comes from the sword "kalis", and from the Hindu God of destruction, Kali. It's roots can be traced back to the 9th century Sri Visayan Empire of South East Asia. One of the accepted historical versions has it that 12 Datus of Borneo brought kali to the Maharlikas (Southern Philipines). I can't really awnser a question that dates back so far in history n e ways LOL

Yes there are various sparring and tournaments however heavy equipment use is not the case with the dog brothers. My sifu is an original dog brother Philip(Sled Dog) Gelinas and their method of training is very down to earth especially these days quote " Higher conscious through harder contact" was their moto assaulting the body with tempered rattan sticks (Very painfull) check out Dog brothers 4 mo info.

Beer-monster Very well said! Being able to take what is usefull and discard what is useless and add to what will ultimately be ur own. However its a changing world i think the best martial art is the art of adapting i.e Kensai said aikido in later stages of development would be invincible, agreed but what if ur opponent points a 9mm at u and not from a close distance...BANG..... your dead, but i do agree aikido is a beautifull and very meaningfull discipling.

I agree completly wit ninjanurse but if ur wanting to know whats more efficient of a fighter i would say full contact because of the barrier that point fighting gives because of its restrictions in the ring and there is also a degree of training the student should receive i.e body conditioning, sensitivity training, contact sparring..ect.
