EstKarateka?! That's unusual, I almost never hear any good words from you.

Thanks smr. Sell it to the JKA? What is JKA?

Hmm....isn't Goju-ryu rather a soft style, with short stances, light and powerful? But yes, Shorin-ryu is light and quick...fast katas.

Nunchaku traditional cord vs the chain
mArTiAl_GiRl replied to SaiFightsMS's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
I've got nunchaku with chains. -
Fighters have already the spirit, the urge to do Kumite/sparring.

Of course, I like Jackie Chan very much too. He is really funny and I like to watch his movies when I need to laugh a lot. But I like Jet Lee more. Maybe because, I have seen his movies more than Jackie Chans. Jackie Chans last movie was so funny! The movie, where he was in Ukraine and it was kinda funny for me to look at that.

and I practise shito-ryu, whichis a combination of shorin-ryu and shorei-ryu, shotokan and goju-ryu. Shorin-ryu is a Shuri-te style (fast katas), it is a big Okinawan style.

Choosing my style???
mArTiAl_GiRl replied to greenki's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
Exactly! That's right karate woman! My swedish Sensei told me once: "the style is not so important and doesn't matter, important is who the instructor is" Go to the both Dojo's and get to know both instructors a bit, then choose the instructor who seems to be a true Sensei. -

How to train to be an instructor
mArTiAl_GiRl replied to Sparky's topic in Instructors and School Owners
Hey, try to explain things philosophically to give them the 'true and real' feeling of The Way of the style you teach them. Listen, a true and a good instructor doesn't fear anything nor is she or he feared. -
Choosing my style???
mArTiAl_GiRl replied to greenki's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
Well, if I was you, I would choose Isshin-ryu. If you want to practise Karate, of course. And if you plan to compete or something in the future, then Isshin-ryu would be most accepted at competitions. -
Happy to hear..

You're breathing and alive, you sometimes feel full of energu and sometimes not, so Chi does exist!

Incompatitbility of Budo and Christianity?
mArTiAl_GiRl replied to hobbitbob's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I am a Christian. And because of that, I at least know my way of religion and I know the meaning of my life: to serve God. Argue with me or not, but I am me and I have chosen this way of life. -
I have experiences of this. I had to create two or three kata's. And it took for me many days to create one kata. I put only the techniques which I know and can perform very well. And through my experiences I can say, that one can only create a kata at a certain level. When she/he has or knows the 'feeling' of the katas and has felt it.

Right! Absolutely right, I have to "listen to my body"! Thanks ninjanurse.

Killed today at a Dojo near my place. Does it happen often ?
mArTiAl_GiRl replied to goedikey's topic in Karate
Things won't happen without reasons. So, try not to involve in that or anything, be careful, but don't let it get you down. -
well, I use to change avatars pretty often. The first avatar reminded my calm and cold personality. The second one when I'm surprised and this one which I have now, reminds me myself how I look like when I'm thinking...

Yes, I have heard of that too, that the old masters taught only a few students privately and those who wanted to study that art, didn't have an oppurtunity. I agree with your opinion, karate woman. And today is much better to study the martial arts, because you have the oppurtunity to study it, of course, if you want to use the martal art in the good way.
