Hello guys, I want to know how often do you check KF because I feel I am a bit addicted to this wonderful community (KF). I am checking it nearly every 2-3 hours even at work as long as I have an internet access , not sure if this is because I am still a new member or I will get more addicted later on. I feel like I want to read every single thread in this forum Any addicts like me?!

[KF 500k] Member Interview: sensei8
Safroot replied to Patrick's topic in KarateForums.com Announcements
I really like it ... Thank you Patrick and Sensei8 for sharing this nice interview -
The description is deceiving as it doesn't teach you it's more like you are watching a training video.... IMO it might be good for an experienced guy to pick up bits and pieces to improve his technique but not for a beginner. Not sure but that's my perception.
-
Totally agree with you Harkoon72. On Youtube, I just watch videos by IKO instructors ( http://www.kyokushinkaikan.org/en/ ) otherwise I watch it for fun or knowledge but not for training or practising purposes
-
Thanks Sensei8 for taking time to check it
-
Yes youtube is great source but I just needed a soft copy reference to be handy all the time even of I don't have an internet access !

I bought this DVD from ebay couple of weeks ago and actually today was the first time to watch it http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kyokushin-Kai-Karate-From-Beginner-To-Black-Belt-DVD-2004-NEW-ALL-REGION-/151213740049?pt=UK_CDsDVDs_DVDs_DVDs_GL&hash=item23350a9011&_uhb=1 I think its name is very deceiving (from begginer to black belt) as it has nothing for beginners at all it's just showing training, competition, nothing about showing beginners how to master their basics or even how to do it in the right way!!! Its more showy than educational. I found this one on ebay as well http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/KYOKUSHIN-KARATE-DVD-GUIDE-GOOD-STEP-BY-STEP-EXPERT-INSTRUCTION-4-BEGINNERS-NEW-/130791059330?pt=UK_CDsDVDs_DVDs_DVDs_GL&hash=item1e73c12f82&_uhb=1 Any idea if this is an educational one or not ?!!! If not, Any suggestions for educational DVDs for Kyokushin beginners ?! I just want an educational one to help me practicing at home in between classes (to make sure I am doing everything in the right way). Anyone can help??!!!

Hello guys, I know there are couple of threads discussed the good books to read on the forum before, but today I need your advice to help me choosing one of the following books to read (this will be my first karate book to read): 1- The Twenty Guiding Principles of Karate http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/The-Twenty-Guiding-Principles-of-Karate-NEW-/301059633047?pt=AU_Books_Textbooks&hash=item46188d6f97&_uhb=1 2- The Inner Art of Karate http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/The-Inner-Art-of-Karate-9781590309490-Paperback-BRAND-NEW-FREE-P-H-/171221955799?pt=AU_Non_Fiction_Books_2&hash=item27dd9fb4d7&_uhb=1 3- THE ESSENCE OF KARATE http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/THE-ESSENCE-OF-KARATE-9781568365244-GICHIN-FUNAKOSHI-HARDCOVER-NEW-/390697519605?pt=US_Nonfiction_Book&hash=item5af76309f5&_uhb=1 4- Karate-Do: My Way of Life http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Karate-Do-My-Way-of-Life-by-Gichin-Funakoshi-Paperback-Book-English-Free-/131089828159?pt=AU_Non_Fiction_Books_2&hash=item1e8590093f&_uhb=1 N.B: I want to read more about karate philosophy and how it can change your life than a history or techniques books. Thanks in advance

Sparring is scary! A Public Service Anouncement
Safroot replied to MasterPain's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
great topic and great posts as usual my question is when your instructor allows you to start sparring ? at which level ? is it different from one style to another??!!! -
OSU First of all welcome to the forum Check this link : https://www.facebook.com/karatekyokushinkai.macedonia From google maps I think this spot is about 1hr 10min driving from where you are. I wish this might help you. Good luck and keep us updated

Totally agree with you. Lucky me I found a good class somewhere else
-
Totally agree
-
I liked both of them ... they were really amazing
-
Totally agree with you. GKR has no less than 35-40 training locations only in Sydney . There is no single traditional dojo here in Sydney as I know of, they are renting school halls and playgrounds.
-
I met one of their reps before and I was going to join them because I had no idea about karate at this stage. Then I found this nice forum that gave me a better understanding of karate with a lot of very useful opinions from many helpful members. I love this forum

Thanks for advice .. I have just started Kyokushin Karate 2 weeks ago and I really love it Very good style, very good instructor and nice & helpful mates training in the dojo

Applying Self Defense Techniques !!

Applying Self Defense Techniques !!
Safroot replied to Safroot's topic in Instructors and School Owners
For instance, when we show beginners our first kata, we make sure that at least 2 to 3 waza (series of techniques) in the kata makes fighting sense (applications) to them before teaching anything else to them. This gives even our beginner students a few tools to put in their self-defense toolbox. Some can only wrap their heads around 1 waza, some understand more than 3; just depends. Totally agree with you and lucky me ... my instructor is giving me application for every single punch, block, kick and stance and he practice the application with me
