  1. A new student of mine, who has only taken 10 classes, announced to the class that he quit smoking (cold turkey) because of what he has learned so far. To me, that is more important than any technique I could've taught!
  2. "Talking loud and stuff" is a part of presentation-the way you speak and carry yourself says alot about what you are about to do. If you can convince yourself you own it, you can convince others too.
  3. Presentation is part of technique. Having the mechanics down, i.e., hand placement, chamber, length of stance, timing, is about 75 % of the battle. The other 25 % or so is integrating the physical with the mental...convincing yourself that the technique "belongs to you", showing that you "understand" it's use, having confidence in your actions....that is presentation.
  4. Even the most simple basics contain all you need to know...the essence of technique. I don't know of anyone who has perfectd gedan barai...do you?
  5. Smoking is detrimental to your health. Period.
