Why should I feel sorry for a heroin addict ? Everyone knows you're likely to overdose from taking heroin. I have no pity for people who take drugs.

Won't tap
Bon replied to three60roundhouse's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
hahaha, sounds like the macho dude that won't get tapped out by a girl.. CHOKE HIM OUT! That will teach him to tap.. The guy needs to stop being macho and realise he's actually learning something when he taps out. -
I pretty much agree with that AnonymousOne.. You would expect a black belt to seriously hurt someone who has had no martial art training no matter what style, wouldn't you ? I've seen this black belt with a massive ego, far from humble which in my opinion a black belt or any good martial artist should be. He started a fight with this guy, and he got a few shots in, but I don't think any of them really connected.. He also hit this guy without any warning and if that was me, I would have placed a kick right through him or good hard solid punch to his head.

Can MA be used against other species?
Bon replied to KickChick's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I've heard a story about a guy using BJJ against a vicous dog that attacked him (forget what type, i think a rotweiler or bullterier).. He choked the dog out, and after that the dog followed him around like its owner and loved him, and forgot about the other owner.. Kinda weird, but yeh.. -
I don't really feel safe, either way I don't like what the outcome of the fight will be. I don't really feel like belting someone up and I don't feel like getting belted up myself. Against one attacker I feel pretty safe. I fear a gang bashing (after being bashed by 4 people while drunk), most people know who I am and I've had my fair share of fights so it wouldn't be surprising if I got gang bashed again. I don't feel any safer with my friends, because I've been in a few confrontations where me and one of my friends have been the only one to act while everyone else sat there or did nothing! Doesn't make me feel too much safer being around friends considering one of them who does MA was walking away leaving us there with an aggressive guy. Would have been nice if he could have given us some warning, or said 'let's go, I don't like the look of this guy' when he saw him coming. I have learnt to avoid fights though, it's become like an instinct I think and I've managed to avoid fights instead of looking for them. I don't drink because I always want to be in control of my body.. I blew this promise I made to myself last Friday though, I drank 1 and a half plastic cups of bourbon straight in 10 min.. I felt safe because people I had fights with before were there and we found respect for each other. From my experiences, on the street 'friends' won't stick for you. Only your closest and truest friends stick for you on the street. The way I see it : it's only me who's going to defend me on the street, if someone steps in that's my goodluck. I'll always stick for my best friends though, no matter what, even if there's a girl at my side.. I've made that mistake before, but it actually turned out to be a very fortunate mistake 'cause I would have hit them, then there would have been another 20 guys from out of the carpark to 2 of us, me and my mate while every other gutless mother ****er sat there! Sorry it's a big ramble..

Birthdays aren't a big deal to me, 'cept I do feel bad if I forget someone's birthday. My sister's birthday is on the 25th, she used to get all her presents on Boxing Day, but she didn't like that so now she gets most of them on xmas day.

Have anyone heard of Zen Do Kai??????
Bon replied to Liam_Sullivan's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
This is what I'm going by.. A person I know has a father who is an instructor in zen do kai and she told me to have a look at the link a while back. there's no zen do kai schools in my area either, I'm fortunate to have a BJJ school in my area I think. http://www.bobjonesmartialarts.com.au/ZDK%20Site/Index.htm -
My goal is simply to be able to fight. That's what I train for and that's what motivates me. I'd like to be able to annihlate someone with a few strikes, or take them to the ground and break an arm or whatever fairly quickly minimal effort.
-
My last dojo was small and had very few students, me being the only committed one. I felt I learnt a lot quicker with less people and more one-on-one attention than I would have in a big dojo with lots of people. Saying that, I had my own source of motivation. It's good to have people a higher rank than you so you don't lose motivation and you have someone better to train with/against so you get better. I did leave my last dojo because there was no one better than me, and I wasn't getting as much out of training compared to when there were people better than me.

Whee, I like the only stance I know. Feet about a feet apart, left foot out, on the balls of my feet. My left jaw tucked into my left shoulder, right hand next to my right jaw and my left hand hanging around at about chest height.

I have a lot of them traits on the list. I probably have a 'sick and twisted' mind according to other people though. If you're so worried about your privacy on the internet, why not just use a proxy ? Your ISP probably provides one..

Yeh, I have heard of it.. it's based mainly in Australia and NZ.. Bon Jones is the founder. -
You should do your cardio work before breakfest, that way you're cutting into the fat deposits for fuel and lose more weight than any other time during the day.
-
Er, no, ad. That's a good way to explain what it is in laymen's terms though. Kickboxing is derived from karate so they could have full contact matches, 'cause they only had medium-contact karate matches I think. There's no grappling in kickboxing, muay thai is different though, they have some throws and locks I think. Go to kickboxing.com and have a look under the styles at 'kickboxing'.

Aikido and Realistic Attack
Bon replied to Shaolin's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
LOL Kimura broke Helio Gracies arm in a challenge match in Brazil with the Kimura Lock. I was making a point that BJJ is effective.. Interesting to note that he was defeated by a grappler with a lock and not a striker knocking him out don't you think ? BJJ can be applied standing up, it's a misconception that it only works on the ground! It would be quite easy to grab some mother ****er and choke him while using him as a shield to another opponent, then deal with the next. -
Hiya! I think 13 is a perfect age to start.. I'm 16 at the moment. I'm the youngest at the dojo I go to for BJJ (Brazilain Jiu Jitsu). If you go 2-3 times a week, you should find yourself losing weight and increasing fitness. The first month, you'll feel so sore the next day! Go to a couple of dojos and watch to see the different styles and pick one you think suits you.. They should let you watch, if they don't, something is suspect. Try to avoid dojos that make you pay fees yearly, it's a good chance it's a McDojo.

Bon replied to three60roundhouse's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Not too many sites around, but I'll paste what I have http://www.bjj.org http://www.teamgracie.com http://www.jenbjj.com/BJJ/ http://www.jiu-jitsu.net/board/ultimatebb.cgi <--- forum which also has the popular 'master text' _________________ It takes sacrifice to be the best. There are always two choices, two paths to take. One is easy. And its only reward is that it's easy. [ This Message was edited by: Bon on 2002-02-23 22:57 ] -
Muay thai kicks?
Bon replied to ShadowSkill's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
muay thai is known for is crushing kicks.. They are not at all flashy, or jumpy. Muay thai practioners kick with their shins and really turn their hips into the kick generating a lot of power. Basic front kick, lead foot, back foot, thigh kick, lead, back, roundhouse, lead and front, side kick, lead and back are probably the kicks primarily used.. They also make use of knees and elbows.. It can be pretty brutal -
