Dips.. You have two bars either side, you grip them both with your hands, then lower yourself down, then push yourself back up, then down again and so forth without assistance of your feet.. You know ? You've probably seen a picture of Arnie with these heavy weights attached around his waist while he does his dips.. You can get a chair or something, place your feet on a bed or something, then proceed to do dips using the side of the chair as your bars.

Bread have carbs, as do fruits! Fruit jucies also contains carbs.. No carbohydrates at all, or minimal carobydrates (around 20g or so) will get you into ketosis in about 3 days, where the body burns fat for fuel since there are no carbs to be used.. A low carbohydrate diet is a sure and gradual way to lose weight. With ketosis, you can expect to lose around 2 - 16 lbs a week, depending on weight, sex & other factors..

So you pay a couple of grand for a computer which becomes obsolete in 6 months ?
-
I'm sure they miss you too though! It's not so bad when you know someone will be back.. but, when your training buddies don't come to training for a few months and they never told you they weren't coming back, it's a little dissapointing and you can't help but wonder how they are.

I know exactly what you mean karatekid! How come you're in another state without your family ?

Why are you getting a headache from that ? I think it's an excellent book personally. I've heard it's a little harder for people with no previous programming experience to pick up.. But, I found if I read things a couple of times I understood it..

'If all you want is to learn stuff that will work on the street, you don't need long term martial arts training. You just need someone knowledgeable in personal defense willing to teach you--you'll be done in a few months and then can dedicate yourself to just keeping in shape. ' He can't expect dignity from that statement.. A few months ?! haha.. I won't dignify it any more by mentioning it. _________________ It takes sacrifice to be the best. Help with my school Logo... Pictures Inside...
Bon replied to Withers M.A.A.'s topic in Instructors and School Owners
Could be the colours.. I don't like the picture much, but I'm not a TKD stylist either.. I like practical techniques I can use on the streets. -
If you can perfect your technique, you'll get a lot more power.. Thrusting through with every kick/punch will add extra power. F = mass * acceleration, so the quicker you can punch/kick, with greater mass, the harder.. The jab can be very powerful AND quick! Most people I see, do not see/use the jab as having knockout power. With the jab, complete it and push through the target. Might feel a little awkard at first, but it is awesome!

You can't compare the two, they're completely different. If you asked running vs swimming or something, it'd make more sense..
-
Man, you have got to do swimming! It's so much better than running.. Plus, you don't get hot or anything =)

From what I've seen, I don't like them. I'm a hard man to please though.. -
Is kempokan the same as kempo ?

540degrees? I can only do 530
Bon replied to koreantiger81's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I don't like 540s or any other fancy kicks that much, but I can do a 540 after 5 years of basketball.. Plyometric exercises is the way as KickChick said.. Do you guys pivot when you do them ? I find I pivot without even thinking about it and don't have to jump as high =p -
Where are martial arts values?

We can never hope to master anything, just learn enough to learn bigger and greater things. -
I tend to disagree with most of you here.. I'd say do not hesitate to crosstrain, no matter what level you're at.. You have to understand crosstraining though.. Crosstraining really means training in something else to help your base art. I did kickboxing, crosstraining would be me doing boxing to work on my hands. Most of the time when you hear crosstraining, people are referring to becoming a "well rounded martial artist", so you can fight at all ranges and you're prepared for as many possible situations that may arise. Doing a striking art and another striking art that is completely different isn't going to help much, IMO.. I think with cross training you're looking for : 1. striking, which includes kicks, punches, elbows, knees 2. grappling, so you can fight on the ground. 3. weapons, stick fighting, knife fighting & 'chucks because I've heard a belt can be used as a chuck

Do you go in tournies to get the pretty medal ? Or say you came first ? Where you place in the tournament is irrelevant.. If you 'lose', you haven't lost a thing, you've won a lot more than the other person. Even the person who 'wins', hasn't really won. You only lose if you don't learn from it and grow. Personally, I think it's shallow to go in tournaments for a medal, or a placing.. The person who goes there looking for flaws his game to work on & emerges with more wisdom and things to work on is really the person who's won. Even the person who 'wins' has flaws and things he can work on. I don't know about most of you, but do you train to get a pretty black belt ? Or do you train for the knowledge, skills, philosophy, fitness, etc, etc. I don't train so I can get a belt and say I'm a such and such in whatever.. I don't think tournies should be any different.

The movie is awesome! I've never really watched Star Wars before, I've always thought it was boring and never managed to finish it. I've got episode 1 to watch and I'm gonna get the rest too.

Smart Sparring 101
Bon replied to monkeygirl's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
I think it's foolish to say you have nothing open.. I've seen a mere yellow belt do a crushing thigh kick on a black belt, even if it was the only strike he got it the whole sparring session, he was open at that point of time and it would have hurt a lot. -
An article ? hmm.. Along with causing great provocation, you are a complete and utter fool. I see exactly why I wouldn't want to train in a Korean dojang. You engrish iz also pore!! k thx bye !!!!

Swimming is one of the most awesome things you can do for fitness. When I played basketball and swimming only weekly, it did huge things to help my game.
